I borrowed money from my 89 year old mother just to sale my time share, it was in escrow and the money was to be sent to me via certified check and then the company just quits answering their phone. I don't have a job and two family members without work to help. I needed this sale, not to loose a large sum of money. I did my research, but that is not enough. How can I get this money back? And are their any honest people in the timeshare world?

Did you use a credit card? Maybe file a dispute if so.

This thread really belongs on the Buy/Sell/Rent board, maybe the moderator can move it.

Rule of thumb for timeshare business offers:

Anyone who charges you a large upfront fee is a scammer.

If the company that "stole" your money is located in Florida, get in touch with the State Attorney General's office immediately. They aggressively pursue these scammers. And even if the thieves are located in another state, still try to establish contact with the Attorney General's Office there.

Is there a "brick and mortar" location in any of your correspondence with the company--not that is likely to be legitimate but...If so, you could try calling the Police Department located there.

Unfortunately, it is not likely that you will ever get the money back, and you will still be stuck with the unwanted timeshare.
You can list it here on TUG in the For Sale classifieds.

I am not sure if the rules of this Forum allow you to post the name, unit size, and season of your timeshare here, but if we could see what you own, we would be better able to offer possible solutions.

A Few, Possibly.

And are their any honest people in the timeshare world?
Maybe. But most of'm are right here on TUG.

Click here for a hypothetical nightmare scenario illustrating multiple overlapping layers of timeshare hornswoggle & bamboozle that the dishonest people in the timeshare world are just waiting to spring on the unwary.

So it goes.

What is the name of the company, website, address?

I will be happy to add the name of this company to my police report & Attorney General report if you are unable. Please provide.

There are honest people but when it comes to selling and buying all values go out of the window! People are eager to sell and cons step in quickly to earn money. Think logical: you need money, you don't give money away to receive money. You are not an investor. You want to sell, not to buy. Nowadays people don't want to pay for your timeshare. You won't make money on it. But I'm sorry for your loss.
