I am scheduled for Surf club May 9. I indicated if eagles nest became available may 8 I would switch. I see it right now and am debating whether to call rci about it.

i am thinking it might be more crowded, not what we need during this crisis
i also wonder if we would be allowed to take our own beach chairs and umbrella on the beach. I know it is a much nicer resort.

I own at both and they are both nice. If you have a true water view at Surf Club your views will be much better and I would stick with it. I am sure if you call RCI they will be able to switch it to Eagles Nest if you prefer.

Concern about confusing husband. Probably can handle smaller resort better, but I recall surf club pool being too cool but maybe memory wrong. Also they do have food available ay eagles nest, so still thinking about it

rci upgrades process once a day. I am not sure of the time but have a feeling it is probably late at night. Even if you see it available, unless things have changed, you just have to wait until the batch runs. A rep on the phone or chat will not be able to grab it for you as an upgrade. If you see it one day and take a screen shot and then see it the next day (screen shot again) and you are in your window, they may send it to a specialist to look at it and if it is still available then they might be able to do something about this.

The idea is they would rather make it available for several hours for someone to take as new, before giving upgrade requests a chance.

I have dealt with RCI on several occasions where I checked to see whether there was availability for an upgrade. Even though the time frame criteria was met & there WAS inventory availability on the RCI side (not resort inventory), the upgrade was not given.

I don't think that's cool when one pays for RCI Platinum benefits.

Go figure

I looked at the RCI Platinum Benefits and it just didn't seem to offer any value. Glad I held off.

For me it's the free ongoing searches that have come in handy and discounts on some properties. Just found pousadas added to list which is really nice for a full week!!

Last night I noticed Charter Club was available, and I believe they had been closed and that is why it would not add to my upgrade request. I added it last night. This morning I got the upgrade. I like it because it has washer dryer in unit and also I like the pool set up better. And maybe we will be able to use a kayak. So it did work!

All you have to do is prepay exchange fee to have as many searches as you want in points and as many as you have deposits in weeks. Your have to pay an exchange fee anyway when you're matched. So, I don't see "free searches" as much of a benefit.

There is some truth to this. If you only have a couple of OGS's going with a week's account it makes perfect sense. I currently have about 40 OGS's going with my RCI Points account, and this is a significant convenience.

I only had to pay one exchange fee for 3+ RCI points searches. I'll admit that I didn't have 40.
