I just checked in to the Barony Beach today. I have never been to Hilton Head before, and I must say the place is beautiful. I traded a one bedroom from the Marriott Grande Chateau and was able to get an oceanside view. The resort is beautiful and the vegetation is lush. They are offering gift certificates to local restaurants or 10,000 Marriott points to due a tour. The concierge said they have stopped giving out Marriott money. If anyone has any questions, I will try to answer them.

Are you going on the tour? I am looking to buy something at HHI, Marriotts. Do you know what they are asking for an EOY at Barony Beach, I would want a platinum season. Thanks for any info!:)

Do you know if there outdoor pool is heated? We will be there during Christmas break this year.

Thank you.

When we were there and did the tour back in May, the salesman said he had no inventory to sell us on HHI. They were aggresively pushing Myrtle Beach instead. IMO, it's a great resort but just wouldn't be the same as HHI. Initally we signed a contract but backed out after investigating Myrtle Beach and discovering the travel costs for us to get there were very prohibitive vs HHI. Plus, we already owned to much.

Hilton Head

Just took the tour yesterday -- at Surfwatch, and was shown a fairly long waiting list for most HH Marriotts for buying thru Marriott. If you wanted to go that route, contact Jim Stevenson, MVCI, james.stevenson@vacationclub.com

Platinum resales are listed by Vacation Timesale Resales in the local guides at $26.900 for Grande Ocean, $20,900 for Barony Beach & $21,800 for Surfwatch.

Labor Day

I checked in yesterday. We're owners but traded in. It's hot and humid. Lots of families. One of the elevators in Live Oaks was broken yesterday, which made for a long move in. It was repaired today but both elevators seem to running oddly.

Today the weather is overcast and the ocean is rough (Hanna?) The beach is covered with sea grass that has washed up. And what's with the blue beach chairs? They have usurped all the best spots on the beach. They're for rent. It rained hard for a while this afternoon.

The disposer was broken. Staff responded very quickly although it took a while to get it repaired since it had to be removed and partly rebuilt. Wireless works well, but the TVs are old fashioned. I had hoped for flat screens. When are updates scheduled?

I spent early this morning at the beach, but my wife spent all day shopping. Prices were very low for Labor Day. She had a great time. We have chilled out so much we can't even bring ourselves to go out to eat.

Hurricane Gustav

Have you noticed any bad weather from the hurricane's in the Gulf?

Steve

When I visit ,it is now getting to the point that I do not want to drive from one end of the island to the other. It truely is the only place when I totally relax. We will be there in 3 weeks. No matter the weather enjoy your stay. As far as shopping goes the fall bargains are wonderful.

We were there last week and it was being repaired and wasn't running all day one day and wasn't acting right all week.

When we arrived the beach was clear and after it stormed for 2 days from Tropical Storm Faye is when all the sticks got washed up onto the beach.

Hanna

Quick update. We leave tomorrow.

Hanna came through yesterday afternoon. My wife was at the beach in the morning. We had some rain, but no real wind, at least before I went to bed at 11:30. We drove over to Beaufort during the afternoon. The rain was intermittent, and only occasionally heavy. Public offices, and some businesses and restaurants closed early.

Saturday, today, has been beautiful. Virtually cloudless sky. The ocean was at low tide in the am and very quiet.
