Anyone ever have a problem with Marriott not honoring transferred points for a future year ?

I will be making an extended vacation reservation and I will need to rent some additional Marriott Destination Club Points for 2021. I am planning on using Vacation Point Exchange when I go to obtain these one time use of additional points (www.VacationPointExchange.com).
.
Member "A" has the points I need. I pay Member A to transfer these 2021 points to my active Destination Point Account. As usual, this is a final transfer and Member A successfully transfers these points directly into my account (call my account Member B).

Now 2021 rolls around, and Member A decides not to pay the maintenance fees that are due on or about January 1st. Time moves on, and Member A has financial difficulties and just can not afford to pay the 2021 now long overdue maintenance fees.

Here is where my hypothetical question comes up: Can Marriott take the points away from Member B (me) for non payment of the maintenance fees from Member A..... ? Assuming they do that they will very likely end up cancelling my reservation due to the now lack of required points.

Anyone ever hear of this hypothetical situation happening? I think the odds of this happening are unlikely, but might it happen under these perfect conditions?

I would say transferring the points to you is as permanent as if member A borrowed the points back a year and used them himself. They are gone from his account and MVC would no longer have leverage over them. I have nothing to back that up, it’s merely my opinion.

Once you have the points you should be fine but you may need to pay attention to Use Year to make sure you can use them when you want as I assume they retain the same UY as the owner.

So if the owner has lost the right to the Use Year, by nonpayment of MF, doesn't that mean that OP would be unable to use them as well?

Great question. Can’t wait to hear the final verdict on this one.

Per the exchange docs, it says the person transferring and the person receiving have to be current on purchase payments, MF‘s and club dues at the time of the transfer. It does not say they need to continue to stay that way going forward. Pretty sure the trigger of the transfer ends any relationship of the points to the person who transferred them.
