My family is staying at the Hyatt Windward Point in Key West this week and I thought I'd drop a short post to say this place is gorgeous! I really felt a little unsure about this resort after reading the posts on it and I have to tell you that in every case I have been pleasantly surprised. The units are well maintained and emaculate. The staff has been helpful in every case we've asked for assistance and the pool and grounds are amazing. The view of the Atlantic from the patio balconies is impressive. Yes, there is no beach, but Key West isn't known for its beaches. Yes, it's on the far side of the island away from the Old Towne party life, but quite honestly, I really tend to prefer this because it gives us "down time" in a very relaxing atmosphere, yet we are still within a short drive to the where all of the action is. Parking downtown is really expensive ($10.00 at most lots or $4.00 an hour at the Mallory Street lot), but we found that you can find parking along the street that will cover most of your needs and be well within walking distance of everything. Our metered parking was $.25 for each 10 minutes and you can feed the meter until you achieve the amount of time you think you'll need. We spent three hours downtown last night for dinner and the sunset celebration and it cost us $5.00 total for parking. Not bad for a short night in the party zone, then back here for a glorious peaceful night.

You're right - it's a beautiful place, just a bit far from the action. The only other thing I don't like is it's right next to the airport, which can be loud at times.
