Hyatt/Welk Escondido Villas on the Green - 76% Increase from Last Even Year Fee Invoice

This is crazy! I have an every other even year large one bedroom. My 2022 fee was $1076. I understand the 2023 fee was $1,209, a 12.4% increase. Now for 2024 it's $1,894!! a 76% increase from my last payment and 56.4% over the 2023 fee. THIS IS CRAZY!

Our MF at Hyatt (formerly Welk) has gone up $1600 per year from just two years ago. That's more than a 40% increase. I can still hear Jon Fredericks announcing the sale to Hyatt saying, "This is a good thing for owners." HAH!

Okay, I'll bite though I am sure I will regret it. What contract term, specifically, do you think they violated?

SO, HERE'S AN UPDATE ON THE 76% INCREASE: They decided to charge me maintenance on a two bedroom when I only own a one bedroom! It took a while on the phone with them till they said they'd look into it and never got back to me. I called them back about two weeks later and they told me it was corrected. So the new charge is $1,365.05, which is an 22% increase over my 2021 payment as I'm an even year owner. Still a 1/5th+ increase over two years for an every other year user is not acceptable!

Based on the language in the contract, it looks like my increase is allowable as it's over two years, not against the prior fiscal year.

Glad to see that it was a mistake and got resolved. The MFs can be easily calculated for each ownership and your numbers seemed WAY off. Have fun using your ownership. We have many more points, and a much higher MF, and we continue to find value and joy in the vacations that we take.
