I don't know the details of the program, but here's the link to their website on the topic.

We own Welk San Diego a part of the HVC and I was told that there was an Exit Program, got an email from owner services and responded. All it said is that they will put you on their list and if there is anything about exiting they will be sure to let you know. I imagine all they will ever do is take it back for free!

welk used to have a fair deedback program, but IIRC they really only ever took back platinum points.

then that slowly turned into not taking back anything and ive honestly not heard of a successful WELK ownership deedback in quite some time despite it still being advertised as an option.

hyatt (og hyatt) is a different story though im not sure very many hyatt/hyatt owners are in the situation where they cant sell or give away their units and thus dont have as big a need for a deedback program compared to hyatt/welk owners!

I don't know the details of the program, but here's the link to their website on the topic.

I contacted them and received this response: "...we have registered your interest to exit your Hyatt Vacation Club ownership. At this time we do not have an exit offer for your ownership. We will contact you in the future, should an exit option become available...." Useless.

I had 2 weeks and was interested in reducing back to one. I initially got a similar response, but a few months later I called directly to one of their “specialists “ and they did buy back the week.

Just a quick update on this.

Trying to find options for Hyatt Beach House Week 40 (gold). Submitted online form early morning no response yet, so called the number found here and they did offer Deedback program. No cash compensation and i will be required to pay 2025 MF and have the ability to use 2025 points and Hyatt will take over starting in 2026. So i guess it is an option still.

You would have no issues selling a week 40 gold HBH unit, and should have time to do it before paying 2025 MF.

That’s great, I’m glad you were successful! What is the phone number? I also submitted the online form a couple of days ago and got the “we have no exit options at this time response”. I’d like to try and call as well. Where is the phone number listed ? Thanks so much!

Hi Everyone!

Thank you for folks who started this site, you are doing God's work here.

We have paid our TS long time ago and since our circumstances and availability to travel have changed we simply don't want/need it anymore.

Our HGVC (purchased 10 y ago, home resort in HI, but access to all locations) was offered a buy back by HGV resale department a few weeks ago and they are charging us $2,115 for, as they explained, "18 months fee that covers the company’s cost to transfer and record the title, as well as the costs HGV will incur related to future maintenance fee payments on your interval."

We don't currently have any outstanding invoices with them and our MF are due in Jan 2025 (we pay about $2,600 once every 2 years). I am, of course, trying to avoid paying anything and willing to give it away (and maybe I will on here once I figure out transfer fees due and other transfer related costs!).

From your experience with HGVC - is this a reasonable amount to pay the resort to exit?

Thanks so much!

HYATT HAPPINESS!!!! : Several months ago we contacted them about getting out of our WELK contract and we told that they didn't currently have any exit program for our particular timeshare and they would contact us if they ever did. I emailed them a few days ago and they said that they had offered us an exit two months ago!! Sure enough I double checked the email and there was an offer (that we presumably mistook for a spam presentation offer) that was gooed for 14 days. I emailed them and they said they would take it back at no cost. We do have to pay next years fees but we can use our points for next year! So it's all good. Should take 120 days but they said the process has started and it all sounds definate

Moral: DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL and contact contact contact.

I sent an email to exit services August 14, 2024 and received the standard reply that I was on a waiting list. I have 430,000 points. On October 29 I received an email that we were accepted into the exit program. We received and notarized the exit paperwork a couple of weeks ago. They won't take over until January 1, 2026 so I had to pay the 2025 maintenance fees. I transferred all of the 2025 points to Interval and World of Hyatt.

nice to hear it seems to be "back open" even if they are now making you pay for another year...though giving you the 2025 use for that payment seems reasonable enough.

I got an email today saying everything is transferred and closed with copies of the final paperwork. That was faster than I expected.

I am in the process of transferring back to HVC my silver High Sierra Lodge week, and have a specific question for you regarding the points you transferred to Interval. I was told by HVC yesterday that my Hyatt associated II account will close when my week transfer is complete. How would I be able to exchange my remaining Hyatt points that are in EE? Are you still able to use your EE points? Like you, I will transfer my 2025 points to World of Hyatt, but still have 800 points left and nothing currently in II when I search that I would use. The HVC rep advised me to book anything and buy E-plus, but if I do not have the Hyatt associated II account anymore, how would I access the E-plus function?

Sounds like you still own, so you should have your II account for the rest of this year because you paid your club fees? You need to book in Interval while you still have the points, and they will move from EEE to Interval and that part should be good.

Hopefully you can retrade this year later this year if you need but i am guessing. You can ask the Hyatt rep if your account will remain active after it is transferred.

I would try to book something i will use now also add a GC to be safe.

I spoke with a Hyatt II rep today. GTLINZ is correct that my II Hyatt membership is paid up and will be active until 1/28/26. I guess I will exchange for something before the ownership turns over (they gave me 30 days) and E-plus until I find an exchange I actually want. Does anyone know if I will need to check in by 1/28/26 or actually complete the week's usage by 1/28/26 when my II membership end?

The GC would ensure you can check in if not the owner. I would think you can create one at the last minute if needed if your checkin is after your active date. Sounds like you would not need one before.

Maybe someone else has done this. You might want to post a new thread with a more specific title.

If figure i will do something similar with in Interval reservation if I ever let go of my last unit.
