Just received this via email:

Hyatt Vacation Club

Dear Owner,

Vacation planning should be part of the fun of getting away. And so we strive to provide a simple, efficient booking experience.

We want to inform you that the global third-party payment processor we currently use for many Ownership-related transactions is ceasing operations at the end of the year. Since we need to make a change, we’re using this as an opportunity to upgrade the payment system.

As we implement these technological enhancements, there will be a temporary modification to the credit card payment process for reservation-related charges and transaction fees, as well as others related to using your Ownership. That said, please note that this will not affect maintenance fee or loan payments.

For your security, credit card numbers won’t be stored in our system during the transitional period. Starting in December, you'll be required to enter your credit card information each time you make a payment for these specific charges or fees through The Lounge, or to provide your card information when making these payments by phone with the GO HYATT team. Again, this is only temporary until the upgrades are completed.

Additionally, when you place a waitlist request, you’ll no longer have to prepay the request-list fee. Instead, it will be charged to your folio during your stay.

We apologize for this temporary change and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make these upgrades.

Thank you,
Your GO HYATT Team

What about the new fees charged when paying maintenance fees by cc. Is it a property specific charge or a HVC system charge applicable to all properties?

In either case case this would be a good time to get ride of any fee to use your CC or the Hyatt CC to pay any maintenance fee at any club property !

?? Right !!

I am LIVID. When I bought into Hyatt in 2007, I was encouraged to get a Hyatt VISA card to pay maintenance fees and earn Hyatt points. Now Hyatt has initiated a surcharge on maintenance fee payments using credit cards, including the Hyatt VISA.

I'd like to find the knucklehead who approved this strategic blunder. They could have had the maintenance fee absorb the processing fee and no one would notice. But NO, they state to reduce maintenance fees, they are requiring us to pay a surcharge to pay maintenance fees via credit cards. There are enough ticks-tack fees (e.g., split week fee). Why impose a new fee? It's like waving a red cape in front of an angry bull. I certainly wouldn't run my business like this! Why on earth would they bite the hand that feeds them!

This new charge is annoying.

What is worse is how they are repackaging what we own with HRC weeks to HPP points and messing up a good thing.

Remember also that the Hyatt Vacation Club is now owned by the Marriott Vacation Club, which is listed on the NY stock exchange as a separate company from the Marriott international Hotel company.

Which could be part of the reason our HVC is being disrupted so much !

FYI.
