What is the best way to make an offer on an ebay auction for $1, that closed with no bids?

It's been awhile since I bought a timeshare on ebay - what is the best way to go about it, after the auction has closed?

You can contact the seller directly.

At least once I contacted the seller after bidding had closed and the person was perfectly agreeable to sell it at the original opening bid amount. He was selling it with an in-place reservation. I explained that I couldn't use the reservation and offered him a bit less. He jumped on my offer with the caveat that I transfer the week to him. Easy Peazy.

I suspect that if a $1 offer had been made during bidding, that they would have taken it. I'm guessing that the person was being paid by the owner to get rid of this timeshare. Also, by selling it to you, they avoid an eBay relisting fee.

So, contact the seller and offer the $1 or other de minimis amount.

I don't see a way to contact the seller directly - the "contact seller" link takes me to an ebay form where I have to provide my contact info (more than I want to give at this point) and wait for them to call me. Is that the only way to do it?

I think so. The listing will probably come back again, and you can bid $1. I use ezsniper, which charges a fee to bid. It's cheap to use that program.

Gixen.com is even cheaper at around $12 a year or so unlimited sniping, along with grouping etc.

I haven't bid on ebay for years, so I don't really need a sniping program.

For something that ends with 0 bids, I don't see where the need to snip exists. Unfortunately unless the seller also has a secondary website, there isn't away to contact them other than through the contact form. I'm not sure what information the form is asking you for the you don't want to provide. All I see is a text box to enter your question/comment and then submit. Communication is handled internally through Ebay.

Strange... Perhaps you weren't logged in. I just sent a message to an ebay seller a few moments ago as a test. I didn't have to provide anything other than my question. Also, on that ebay page, it advises to only contact via ebay. Here is the screen that I got to after I logged in and without having to give any more info:

Update: The seller responded, and I'm in the processes of adding another week at Hyatt High Sierra for $1, all in. Seller is paying for title transfer, which is great, because it's pricey with Hyatt.
