Hi. I have been quoted a timeshare with Hyatt vacation club platinum. 240k points a year with 480k bonus points in the first 2 years. I have also been told that I will get unlimited Interval International getaways with that. I just need to pay the tax on it and no need to convert my points. What does that mean for me? Any ideas on how good the plan is. It costs 35k

A hard no. Who is telling you this? There are ways to get great timeshares at minimal cost, even free. Someone with knowledge of Hyatt will chime in.

I believe every II Member can use unlimited Getways.

Given the number of points, this looks to be legacy Welk points. These have $0 resale value. People were giving them away in the Free Timeshares forum. Of course, the resale points have restrictions but you can go out and actually buy a resale Hyatt Vacation Club deeded week from the legacy Hyatt Residence Club program. This is by far superior to what they were trying to sell you.

The deeded Hyatt week would come with an included II account (included with your Club Fee). With that II account you can purchase unlimited getaways. They aren't free.

hopefully you didnt sign that contract! and if you did rescind it immediately!

after that you should figure out which hyatt you actually looked at. there is a VAST difference between the two "hyatt vacation clubs" with one being the actual hyatt branded timeshare and the other being a renamed welk resorts.

however neither of which are worth paying 35k retail for.

unfortunately welk resorts is still welk resorts, simply renamed to hyatt vacation club when hyatt purchased that system.

it is absolutely not the same thing as a traditional hyatt branded timeshare and these are even hard to give away for free on the resale market.

Don’t might. Rescind now. Then research what timeshare system is best for you, if any. The offer will always be available. The $35k will be gone if you miss the deadline.

No need to call. That just gives them another shot at convincing you to delay. The USPS letter is all you need. Your money will be returned, but can take awhile. They probably won't let you know, but they will return the deposit.

Does it make sense to put a stop payment from my credit card as well?
Not necessary. Just let the process play out. They are required by law to refund monies paid.
