I would like to transfer one of my deeded weeks to a family member. The deed is paid for, free & clear. It’s in Hawaii at (KBC) Ka’anapali Beach Club. The maintenance fee is also current. How do I go about transferring the deed? Can I do it myself or do I have to hire a company? Years ago I transferred a TS deed myself. It was with another TS company (not DRI) and it was pretty simple with minimal fees. I didn’t have to hire anyone to do it for me. Although, it wasn’t in Hawaii. I realize that sometimes things are handled differently when it pertains to Hawaii. I’m hoping one of my fellow Tugger’s can help me out with the steps I need to take. Tug members always have a wealth of information to draw upon.
Thank in advance for your help!

Can anyone offer any suggestions? Or, has anyone ever done this type of a transfer?
Thanks!

you absoutely do not have to use a title company if you are versed in the appropriate real estate laws and procedures of the state the timeshares exist in.

however most folks do not, and find that hiring a licensed closing company to handle all that paperwork and filings for them.

I personally am not familiar with hawaii procedures, but I do know they do have a few extra "caveats" compared to say florida.

We've accomplished transfers ourselves (DW is an attorney), but not involving Hawaii. If it was me, I'd at least reach out to www.lttransfers.com if I wasn't 100% confident. iirc, Hawaii has some legal hoops to jump through.

Thank you for responding. I thought maybe Diamond might have a process or form that we could use to accomplish the transfer. I guess since I haven’t had any additional responses from Tugger’s, it must not be something that anyone has done before. However, I really do appreciate your response. Guess I’m on my own with this one.

The first thing I would do is call Diamond and ask them what you need to do. Ultimately they will have to make the change on their records so seeing what they suggest makes sense to me.

Fwiw, have you considered posting your question over in the Hawaii-specific forum? You might increase the odds of your inquiry being seen by someone who has already done exactly what you are seeking to do. Just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestion. I guess I wasn’t aware of a Hawaii specific forum. I’ll see if I can find it.

Thanks so much!
