WE have been long term timeshare owners and RCI members but we feel like RCI is no longer of much benefit but I am not sure how to get out of it. We have weeks and points. We have some banked weeks. If we cancel our membership what happens to those weeks and to our points? WE plan on using one of our home units on a regular basis and selling or gifting the remaining ones.

As long as you want to use the banked weeks or points, you have to continue to pay for and maintain an rci membership. If you don't care about using any banked points or future reservations with rci you can cancel now. With weeks account, just stop depositing and as soon as you are ready you can opt out. With rci points you need to make sure your home week isn't auto banked into rci. So that may mean telling rci that you plan on withdrawing from rci points and reserving your home week outside of rci 13 months in advance of your home week.
