How To: Synch Android with Microsoft Outlook - by Jamie Lendino/ PCMag.com

Make no doubt about it, just about everything in the Android OS is geared toward getting you to use Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Contacts.

You can, however, work with Outlook almost as easily as long as you follow PCMag's advice.

It's funny -- I was just looking at that very article last week. I am in the process of getting a new smart phone, and I rely heavily on the ability to sync my Outlook calendar to my mobile device.

With an iPhone or other Apple device, it is a snap (via iTunes). It always seems to be at least a two step process for an Android device, due to the tight integration w/ Google calendar, GMail (for contacts), etc. I have tried a couple different methods in the past, but it is problematic at best.

Right now, my phone choices are narrowed down to an iPhone 4s or a Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket (I have to stay w/ AT&T). The Skyrocket has a larger and very nice display, and that makes it easier for my eyes -- I was surprised how much an extra inch of screen size makes a difference. I'm in a 4G market, so data download will definitely be faster. I am very familiars w/ iOS, so that is a plus for the iPhone. I think if I find a good sync solution for Android / Outlook, that would tip the scales to the Skyrocket.

Decisions, decisions.
