How to see RCI inventory?

Hi - we are new HGVC members (just received our HGVC membership number today!) and started playing with the HGVC website. Is there a way to look at availability of RCI without having to deposit or convert points into RCI? I'm only able to see availablity/make reservations at HGVC resorts (or more likely not sure how to access/see RCI availability).

Tried to see if this question has already been asked, but unable to find anything when I did a search on this forum. And didn't get any answers when I viewed the RCI portion of the new member online tutorial video.

Thanks in advance.

See RCI Inventory on HGVC.com

Okay ... here's what I'm doing (what am I doing wrong?):

1. I log onto the HGVC member site.

2. The menu on the left gives me the following options:
My Account
My Club
My Ownership
My Points
My Reservations
My Resources

3. I click on "My Points"

4. I click on "Use Points Now"

5. I select "Stay at an RCI Resort"

6. I am then instructed to use the menu to the left to navigate and explore the RCI Collection of Resorts - but I don't see any RCI menu options available.

7. If I click on My Reservations, it only allows me to Book Now (at HGVC Club Resorts), Change Reservations or view Reservation History. No RCI Portal is shown.

8. Same thing happens when I try to view/book an Affiliate Resort (tells me to use the menu on the left - but there is no portal or menu of Affiliated Resorts for me to access).

9. If I click on "MY CLUB", I have access to Reservations (at HGVC Resorts), or I can VIEW ONLY the Resort Gallery which includes Affiliated Resorts (but there is no link to reserve affiliate resorts).

10. Under "MY POINTS" I can click on "Deposit" and am given an option to Deposit Points to RCI, but it's going to charge me $69 and do the actual deposit, and is final/non-reversible. The point is, I'm not sure if I **WANT** to deposit - depends on what is available.

I thought one of the benefits of HGVC was to be able to see availablity within RCI before actually depositing. Has this changed?

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance. Sorry I'm so windy - just trying to understand how it works.

Hey Cindy,
RCI access doesn't happen right away. I think it too about a week for me to get access. And it will be under the My Club tab when its available. I know its hard to wait but dont worry it will pop up soon.

Thanks Tricia ... good to know! It's hard to be patient! We purchased this in December and it took so long to finally close ... so when I received my membership number today I couldn't wait to get online to play - only to be frustrated by the limitations. Will try to be patient a little longer....

Thanks again.

Yup, once it's available, go to:
My Club
RCI Affiliated Resorts
Reservations
Click on the red RCI ball
"You are leaving hgvc site" click continue
I accept the terms" click OK
Click on RCI Exchange Reservations
Then search by...

Although you see the majority of RCI available resorts, it won't show all the resorts for some reason. I asked the HGVC/RCI reservationist why I can see more resorts on RCI's stand alone website, but not on HGVC/RCI website, and she could not answer why.

As for the RCI reservations number, I just call the HGVC number and they will transfer you. Good luck and congratulations on your purchase!

I've read the reason you cannot see all RCI is because HGVC portal limits to the gold crown resorts to use hgvc points so that members do not feel that they traded down.

Hgvc has arbitrarily decided what resorts are worthy enough to be traded for its members. Nothing to do with whether it is gold crown or not. Or even if they are good (or not). They have some internal decision reason for what resorts they show for trading.

What is the phone number for Hilton Club Members to call RCI

Hilton Club or HGVC... Either way, call your member reservations number.*
For HC = 888-852-2582 ... For HGVC = 800-932-4482
and the answer menu connects you with the RCI desk.

*These numbers are on the back page of the Member's Guide.

BTW, there was a time in this fair land, when your forebears had to walk 5 miles to school everyday in the snow, and it was uphill both ways, that Hilton did not offer access to RCI online. Your only choice was to call to petition for entry into RCI land, and it was a total crap-shot as to what you'd find.

another interesting theory that a company as big as Hilton would make arbitrary decisions like this, you will have to excuse this retired IBM project manager but thats bs. I personally think its some criteria that was spelled out and agreed to by both parties in a contract. When business partners agree to create interfaces between IT systems you can bet there are detailed specs.

I'm sure there is, we simply are not privy to the formulae they used to come up with the list.

Try asking them sometime why we have "last call" via RCI but not "extra vacations" via RCI and see what spews forth from the mouths of a hgvc representitive :wall: I called them out on that when it showed up on their online hgvc -> rci interface one day and it disappeared the next day.

The technology is there for them to give us whatever THEY decide to give us.

Agreed, the mystery for me is why upper management does not share it with their representatives.

I've never used the call center, I do all my bookings with the Classic System. Somebody got sold a turd with Revolution, Adobe Flash is an abomination IMO I disable it.

Believe it not Extra Vacations is still available in RCI. The only way I have found to access them is through the resort directory. When you click on a specific resort and check available units it will take you to a page where you can choose between Last Call, Extra Vacations, and Exchange Reservations.

How's that for convoluted? If anyone knows a more direct way to get access I would like to know myself.

When I click on check available, it usually just takes me back to the main map where I have to start all over again. Frustrating.
