Although I have owned for 5 years, I have never attempted to rent out my timeshare. My DW is testifying in a trial the week we are supposed to go to [to our timeshare that week]. This IS NOT AN AD- I want to know, if the buyer pays through PayPal, what are the logistical steps I must take to make this transaction happen? I have only BOUGHT items using PayPal, but have never sold an item using the service.

Don't make it difficult. If your Renter pays via PayPal, send a letter to the resort (with a copy to Renter) telling them that he/she will be occupying your unit. In about 2 weeks call the Resort and verify that they have it set up properly

Thank you for the quick response. My question has to do with Paypal. I understand how to call the resort to notify them someone else will occupy the resort. I DO NOT understand how to get someone to pay my account through PayPal. Should I be looking on their website for guidance, or does someone reading this have experience receiving payments through PayPal?

Yes, look on the PayPal website. I think it's pretty simple - I'm pretty sure the buyer can just get on to his/her PayPal account, chose "send money" and put in the email associated with your PayPal account. I don't think you have to set up anything on PayPal to be a recipient.

Be aware that PayPal will take a cut, which could be quite hefty depending on the amount of rental and also, I think, depending on whether the other person pays with his/her bank account or credit card.

Sounds like you may not actually have a paypal account yet.?

When setting one up you nominate the account you want money received into, and paid from ( I have a seldom used account that can receive), Then when wanting payment you issue an invoice to the buyer. They then send payment by the method they choose and it is sent to the account nominated.

Pretty simple except depending on the payment method the buyer chooses you may lose 3% of the transaction amount as Paypal's cut of the deal.

If your'e willing to absorb that fine, otherwise adjust the price upward by 3% and say buyers can use Paypal.

Very east to use Paypal.

You log into your account.
There is a link for request money.
There you make an invoice, just type in Condo Rental or something. Put in you dollar amount, as stated previous, paypal charges you a fee. It's a pecentage.
Type in the email of the renter. They will receive an email with a link to pay you.
In your paypal account, you will need to enter your bank account info. Once you receive the payment, you select transfer funds. paypla will deposit into your bank account.

Hope this helps.

I would also ask the resort to mail the renter a confirmation in their name.

The paypal "bill" has a memo box - in that box I put the specific terms of the rental, and contact info. for both myself and the renter.

BTW - if your paypal acct. is already set up, you should not have to put in any more bank info. - that is done when you first open an Acct. Once the money is in your Paypal Acct. you can transfer it to your bank acct.

Careful, this may well elicit a referral to the Incorrect Words discussion topic.
