Sounds good, but even easier if you use an airfryer - plus no mess, you only use a tablesoon of oil. I've done this with my T'fal Actifry and they were yummy.

The main ingredient for the barbeque flavor of BBQ potato chips is smoked paprika. There are various recipes.

I also read in a Hawaii magazine, that the secret to really crispy potato chips is to fry only for a short period, then bake in the oven.

I make 'em in the oven without an air fryer. Slice thin, mix 1 tsp EVOO with sea salt and your choice of seasonings- I use some garlic powder, chili powder, pepper- toss with the spuds and spread a single layer on non-stick foil and bake 40ish minutes at 400.

They're killer good.

1 teaspoon is quite a small amount of oil. Is this per potato or how many potatoes will this work for?

I use that amount for 3-4 medium (one sheet pan covered in a single layer) potatoes. It's enough. Honest! You can either slice them in skinny wedges (I leave the skins on) or use a mandolin set at about 1/8" to 3/16" watch them closely after 1/2 hour. My wife begs for me to make these.
