How to get to Midtown Manhattan to JFK. Well now after several decades a solution is about to be unveiled. (Not Penn Station from the west side).

The Gods of NYC metro Transportation are about to open up....

AKA East side access.

Of course this decades past due, over budget, way past scheduled opening. But alas I think it is finally happening. Much too late for my younger inner NYC to relish and take advantage on a regularly scheduled basis. However I will love it when I have to travel from South western CT in Upper Fairfield County to my beloved JFK(sarcasm:poop:) international via public transportation. There has never been a public transportation solution to get to Grand Central to JFK. Never! Until now.

When I have more time I can fill in with more historical trivia about this massive project.

I hope this can also fill a transportation void for all the TUGsters that visit NYC. I typically don't reply to those how to travel from JFK to
Manhattan. (I don't have that requirement as a semi permanent local resident). But this is a great solution for Tugsters visiting NYC!

The MTA has bonds that need to be repaid and you know that they will also try to include congestion price a for taxi to get into New York City from JFK. The bureaucracy will tout the advantage of GC Madison to save money. Just tell them to schlep your 6 piece luggage on the LIRR for you during the morning rush. Also you will be forced to change at Jamaica:eek:

So another development that's been in the works lately is congestion pricing. From what I understand London has this as well. The only way to get into an out of Manhattan island is by tunnel or bridge. The old legacy bridges such as the Brooklyn bridge, 59th street bridge, etc.
Don't have tolls. Current technology can impose toll fee via photo tech of license plates.

This will increase tax revenue and reduce traffic. Taxi passengers will be paying this new toll from JFK in addition to all manner of vehicles .

Now don't think I believe this congestion pricing will save traffic or congestion. I am just the messenger.
