I am looking for a way to give away or get out of a Diamond Resorts points membership that we paid over $30,000.00 for. We are not using it and just want out of it. We tried writing and calling Diamond Resorts and since we upgraded the membership in the past year they will not let us out of it. What options do we have?

If you upgraded and haven't paid it off, your options are to continue to pay until you paid them off then pay through the transitions program or to stop paying, let Diamond know that you don't intend on paying anymore - offering an explanation if you have a hardship issue, and hope that the effect, if any, on your credit won't be too bad.

They do have a program that allows you to pay even more and give it back to them. I know it seems like (well, it is) highway robbery. But that's how it is. The timeshare is not worth anything, and you can't even give it away unless it's paid for and current. I know that this is not what you want to hear, but the ONLY way to get value out of this is to use it. Obviously SOMETHING about owning a vacation property appealed to you enough to spend $30,000, so why not use it? Stick around TUG and we'll show you how to get some value from it. About half of us TUGgers bought our timeshares just like you did, from the developer, at retail. and as you may have noticed, this little corner of the internet is called Timeshare USER'S Group. Not timeshare getter-outter's group. You're among friends, so stick around.

Welcome, and Best Wishes!

ouch, wish you had found us last year before the upgrade, they have had a surrender program in place since 2015 where you could just give it back if its paid off :(
