I know I have seen on FB different groups on how to get into Max Program and purchasing on Resale. I know it can be done; I don't know how about going about it. I love the idea of not having fees. Golfing and that kind of stuff sounds nice. However, not for retail prices. Anyone have Max or have any ideas?

An alternative for the no fees is to buy one of the by Hilton Club offerings resale and pay the All Inclusive fee. Much cheaper than any MAX option.

Cheers.

Max is only available with a retail purchase as far as I know. For the cost of that (or @brp suggestion of a second deed and MFs and AI Fee), unless you were booking an ungodly amount of trips a year, you'll pay $80 or whatever for longer than most of us will be alive and be way ahead IMO.

That are plenty of examples, within the TUG discussions, where resale have triggered Max. They seem to be the same properties/groups though.... But there is no guarantee.

True. But should one bank on that and lay out more money and, more important, commit to more annual MFs because this might happen? Playing the glitch has definite risks. Now, if the additional points are beneficial, it could be worth it. Of course, if it doesn't generate MAX, then more points would be needed after that.

Cheers.

Yes, but didn't at least one person eventually end up DeMaxxed? I just wouldn't count on the glitch even if it happened, because it's not "supposed" to and could be taken away whenever as I understand it. That would be even more galling if I spent money and took on extra MFs. Which, even if it worked, and you never lost it - most MFs are at least $1kish? That's more than 10 booking fees, which most people wouldn't even have the points for. It still doesn't make sense just to not pay a $80 booking fee one or two times a year IMHO.

It depends on how much you use the system...we book, at least, 10/year, probably many more if you count the ones that we book and cancel. It allows you to use the system completely differently. We book every holiday, every date that we think that we may want, and then cancel later if we don't need it since there is no cost. I suspect it saves us about a grand/year.

Then for EP folks, this isn't Max though but is for higher level Max, we get unlimited free guest certs, free saving, free converting to HH..any time and any amount plus much more so those perks also change the way that you use the system. I don't worry about points. If I need to save at the end of the year, it is free....

Now should someone roll the dice, well, for the many listed examples, the ones that have triggered can also get AI...so, worst case scenario, they have more points and buy into AI for free reservations....if they need/want the points.

I don't know where that ended up. Most were deMaxxed and then ReMaxxed. I suspect that a person it triggering the deMaxxing but the system automatically ReMaxxes...sounds like most are still Max.

We book well over 10/year so it would save us money...we are EP though and get free booking and those free bookings over the years, at least, $1k/year, have covered the cost of our Craig Lodges cost or an annual MF.

Just depends on how much you want it and if you don't get it, are you okay with the extra points. Plus, if it is one of the ones that tends to trigger Max, AI is an option....so that is a fall back for free reservations.

OK, I didn't expect most people are doing 10+ a year...

If they have to pay for it each time, probably less but when it is free, like for us, we book willy nilly and sort it out later...heck I have, at least, 5 to 10 OO walks going during the fall for the next summer.

Yes, but I was responding to your comment about a number of folks glitching into MAX by buying resale and the risks associated with whether or not it would really work that way as opposed to the fee benefits of MAX itself.

Cheers.

I think my response was mingled across your comment and jp10558s...

Are people really loving MAX that much that they would pay money for it over buying a resale HGVC in Vegas? Resale HGVC is the only thing I have considered and didn't follow through because a new system to learn is not in the cards, nor would Rick want to take on HGVC.

If owning Hilton stopped the $25 per day "parking/concierge" fees for exchanges, I would have already bought it.

My suggestion would be to buy a bHC deed (ideally one with better MFs/point) in a location you would like to visit. At the very least you would be eligible to pay for Inclusive Dues that eliminate the reservation fee. And there is always a chance you would be given MAX status which would entitle you to pay inclusive HGVC MAX dues (which are slightly less expensive than Legacy bHC inclusive dues).

Same applies on any Embarc purchase (except converting to HH) even resale at the minimum level of points - 6000.
It still boggles my mind how many transactional fees Hilton charges other HGVC resorts.

Yes, but how many points do you own? ;) Since you are EP, we know it is above 50K; probably closer to 100K from what I have gleaned from here, so that many reservations a year is atypical vs. an average owner. But as a fellow EP'er, it is really nice to to have that flexibility with reservations!

100K+, agree and good point. EP and a lot of points change the way that you use the system.
