You will find that the consensus here is that you are one sick individual. We hope you get better soon. These 'deals' come with more strings than a marionette, and free multi-night stays to listen to their lies is generally not among the offers. If you have sufficient funds and a high enough credit score, call the TS of your dreams, ask for sales and offer to attend. You will have to convince them that you are serious about buying. It's a lot easier to get some local perks by going on vacation and taking them up on their offer, but that usually doesn't include additional nights' accommodations.

If you find some outfit that will take you up on your voluntary offer, let us know. Also, whatever you do, don't buy from them.

I don't know of any timeshare that will give you a completely free stay. Usually, they give you tickets, a gift card, or a free or discounted activity. Also- be aware that there are minimum income requirements for these presentations and you must attend with your spouse.

That being said, attending a timeshare sales presentation will be one of the more miserable events of your life. They are very high pressure, and they make it difficult to leave. Sometimes they keep you for hours. YOU DON'T WANT TO GO TO ONE!

Here is a better alternative - rent from a TUG member for $100 per night or less - no strings attached!

If you really wish to volunteer to have your ears boxed for 2+ hours,
and have your sanity questioned for refusing to buy into their BS,
there's likely nothing we can say to dissuade you.

However, practice asking, "How much does this sell for on e-bay?"
and "How much are the Maintenance Fees?"... "Hoochee, Mamma!"

Whatever else, do not sign anything.
Have a watering hole picked out where you can go to decompress.

You can often fill out a card at local restaurants and businesses and drop your info in the cardboard box. A few weeks later you will get a call that you "won" a free trip.

If you're married, make sure your spouse reads the dire warning posted here. Some can keep you there long after they know you're not going to buy. Some can get belligerent and insult you for wasting their time. How much abuse are you willing to take in order to get a room or activity discount?

If you live near a Bass Pro Shop you can go in and buy a 3 day trip to a Blue Green Resort...you even get to go on a presentation ...that will take up one day of your three days...
My wife and I went to Myrtle Beach one weekend on a "free" 3 day weekend ... just walk down the beach and you'll be approched by a endless number of people that want to give you tickets ,gift cards, or more 3 day weekends...the list is endless ....

Also be aware that often the "free room" is NOT at the resort/system they are hawking but at some (far too often seedy as they really want you to see how nice the model timeshare is by comparison) hotel in the general area. If your goal is a stay in a multi-room condo be sure that is what they will put you in or you may regret more than just the multiple hour "torture" you'll be put through for the "freebie". Be very careful.

scam the scam

If you happen to stumble into something that you think is free and won't cost anything, make sure you read and understand everything that you sign, including the very fine print on the back. About 2 years ago, my sister got back from a supposed "3-day free stay" and they didn't buy anything during the presentation. But not only did they have to put up with a day of grilling, intimidation, arguing, etc.; about a month later they got a credit card charge for the flea-bag room they stayed in (not at the resort). It was grossly for more than the stay was worth, and they were unable to dispute the charge because the seller pointed out to the CC the contract that they had signed -- in very small print on the back it essentially said that a purchase was required to get the free stay.

The Bass Pro Shop deals aren't exactly free unless they have changed in the last couple of years, but you get a percentage of your money back in a Bass Pro Shop gift card. We did this to tack onto another week we had in the area and it worked out nicely. Our timeshare pitch was pretty painless.

In fact, most of the ones we've done through the years have been pretty painless. We'll do them if the offer is good enough and we have a morning to kill. Last one was in Williamsburg. We got an OK lunch and $80 I think it was. The salesperson almost threw us out of the building when she realized I knew more about timeshares than she did.

My husband sets an arbitrary minimum of $100, so they never got that high for the owners update at Mystic Dunes in December.

If you are a glutton for punishment, you can go online to the Westin or the HGVC sites and fill out the online forms that say you are interested in learning about vacation ownership. I doubt either will give you a free stay, but they will probably offer a discounted stay. Whatever they estimate the presentation to take, in your mind double it. So, if they say 90 mins, expect it to take at least 3 hours.

Don't set yourself up for a 3 hour fight ( they do not understand " NO " )
If you want to get into TSing, all the information you need to purchase with a good understanding is right here, and you will not get some free China plastic junk .I went to one to get a free grill once and it was a castiron thing that held 4 pices of charcoal and would cook ( maybe ) one hamburger at a time.

My wife has threatened me with divorce if I drag her on another timeshare presentation for a freebie. That "freebie" would cost me a fortune.

I betting the OP doesn't have any desire to learn about TSing. All he wants is a free vaca and we've heard the last of him. But I have been wrong before.

The truth is your 90 minute presentation will be more like 5 hours unless you stand up in front of all the other people and appear very angry that you have "to pay money to own something that is worthless" Try to appear very agitated, upset and go around talking to others. I assure you they will remove you pretty quickly before you poison the other potential suckers.

Suggestion do not attend any t/s presentation. You can learn more about timeshare by reading TUGS 101 on timeshare; under the ADVICE section.

Good luck to you.

The best thought is to just go in as a guest. There are no gaurentees they will offer you anything, but if it is a Wyndham Resort with a sales office, odds are pretty good they will. You did not mention what areas you are looking for but Shawnee Village, Pa., Atlantic City, New Jersey, National Habor, Md, Williamsburg, VA, Old Town Alexandria, VA, Myrtle Beach S.C., and Governors Green, Tenn. all have sales offices, I believe that are still active. If they do not offer you a presentation, you can always request one when you are there. I do not know if they would give free stuff if they do not invite you. A rental for a weekend this month or next months should be available at low demand Wyndham Resorts for the 80 to 100 dollars per night range.

Nothing like that :)

I guess I will drop the idea of free rooms abd avoid these timesharess....

I will rather buy a week from someone who wants to sell their 1 week.

No, I think you were on the right path, just wrong direction. Go to one or two locations you like and try them and see if you like them before entering into a long term commitment. Weather or not you go to a presentation is up to you. But do check out the Resort(s) you are buying into before purchase. You could end up with some really nasty surprises if you do not. If you are serious about buying a re-sale and if you go through one of the Tuggers that is dealing in re-sales of one or more units, you might want to post in the Bargin Deals or Market place which resorts you want and that you will rent a week there with an option to buy it and the rental would be applied to the purchase/closing costs if you exericize the option. If not, you just pay the rental fee. If you buy from a Wyndham Platium reseller, they should be able to get you a great resort of your choise in the next month or two (off season for most resorts). I have alway wondered why the re-sellers have not already started doing this since they do not like to compete with developers et. al. Best of luck and do not let the negative comments by some get to you.

We got a beautiful postcard from Delta this week that we won two round trip tickets within continental US. Have to call within 48 hours and will also get a three day, two night stay in a hotel. Not a timeshare or land sale offer, it claims.
Headed for the trash bin, I read the fine print. Offer not sponsored by Delta but they are a major supplier. Certain restrictions apply.
I'd venture they are selling vacation packages, a fancy term for timeshares.
