How soon before travel getting an RCI cash deal should you call with a request to the resort?

I usually don't expect anything with an Extra Vacation or Last Call, but in this case I did get 2 concurrent units at Regal Vistas at Massanutten for more people to stay. And I'd at least like to request they're next to each other or as close as possible. I was planning to call the week before, but when I did that with HGVC for a club booking (so an owner) it seemed like it might have been not far enough in advance (or they really weren't doing anything with requests - though maybe I'm just wrong on how any of this would work). This trip at the end of Sept (28th) - would it be useless to call next week rather than the week of travel?

Call now and ask how it works. Some places take requests and some don't. Of the latter, some will tell you they don't, but many will just listen and then ignore rather than take the time to explain or argue. It may also vary by owner vs non-owner. Call and ask.

I've been told by many different resorts that they do not get the info from RCI until 10-14 days before your check-in date. For that reason I call 7-10 days before our check-in date with any room/bldg. requests.

Massanutten is big and actually pretty decent with these types of requests. I would call sometime this week and then ask again when you check in if they don't have them together.
