How often is availability updated on RCI website?

A VC told me today that the availability reflected when doing an online search is only updated once a day at midnight, while the inventory the VCs see is updated constantly. That was her reason for not being able to see a week that I had just seen online.

Is that true or was she making it up as she went along? She was a very polite young lady, though not very helpful, so I have no real complaint with her performance. I was a little surprised that she didn't even offer to search for anything else for me.

The explanation you were given makes no sense. If you can see it online, then it's in inventory and the VC ought to see it as well. Once the week is taken by someone online, it is no longer visible to others online (and that changes immediately, not at midnight).

The Guide may have been confusing the fact that our system goes through a "batch" process every night. This is when held units are released from searches if they are not confirmed, confirmations within the 24-hour "grace period" become final, and many other maintenance processes take place.

However, when you search online, our website is calling up to the same mainframe database that our Guides use. It's real-time. I'm sorry to hear you were told otherwise - that answer was incorrect.

The only time there may be a discrepancy is when a Guide is making an exception to our system guidelines, say for VEP.
