I'm curious what others who have taken car service from the airport to a cabo resort (playa grande in our case) have tipped the driver.

Not sure about Cabo, but my understanding is that in Cancun and the Riviera Maya, the guideline is about 10%.

Tipping is not customary in Mexico unless some special service is performed. Waiting while you get money, or groceries or handling luggage come to mind. The Mexican taxi drivers have become used to gringos tipping and won't refuse it. 10% is very generous. Slightly different topic, but the people who bag your groceries in Mexico are paid solely by tips. 1-3 pesos per bag is not too much.

Thanks. Our car service charged us a lot (30 or 40?) for the grocery stop, so I didn't take that into account.

We tipped our driver $5.

We tippws the Walmart bagger $2.

It seems weird now to compare the two, but we paid such a lot for the driver already...
