I am an Apple Aficionado and I am proud to say I have an Apple shaped head.

(When I worked for Ma Bell in Marketing it was common to hear myself referred to as having a Bell Shaped Head by other vendors! That's where I got the term)

But I digress. I love everything Apple. I have 3 iPads, a Macbook Air, a new iMac, an Apple Watch, Apple TV (new and old versions), Airport Express and Time Capsule and last but not least my iPhone.

I am still using an iPhone 5 because it works great. No need to change what works. I only replaced my iMac, the desktop computer, last year. I bought my old one in 2007. My husband and I got tired of replacing computers every time a new Windows OS came out. We had a basement full of computers that were quite obsolete in a couple of years. So we made the jump to Macs in 2007 and haven't looked back!

Now when I need to upgrade I just do a software update. No new equipment. I just download the update and install it. Even major updates work in that way. And Apple hasn't charged for an upgrade since Lion and that was in 2011 I think.

Any other Apple Shaped Heads out here in Tug-land with me?

Windows machine for work but only rarely used. If it ever dies, I'll get a Mac of some kind.

iPad Air and Mini plus iPhone 5s. All get used all the time.

Cheers

#1 DS is a Microsoft manager (Bing is his) in Redmond. We better not show up with an ianything.

For those with unusual (apple shaped) heads, there used to be the study of such. Called Phrenology. :) More here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phrenology

I have been using Apple products for more than 30 years, but I don't buy anything just because it's new.

My second computer was a Mac and I wasn't impressed so since then I have had only one Apple product,an IPad which my wife got me about a year ago. Again, don't find it any better then other pads we have.
Here I am living only a few miles from their campus and the new spaceship type campus they are building. They don't give us any type of bargain and I don't find them any better then anything I use. Maybe because I'm really not much into tech. Written on my IPad.

I've been an IT guy for more than 40 years, currently working in IT Tech Support for a busy hospital. I own and operate everything - PCs, Macs, iPads, iPhones, Android tablets, you name it. I love learning about technology, and really like that I learn something new every day.

For Christmas, Santa brought me an Intel Compute Stick. It's an interesting gadget half the size of a small TV remote that plugs into an HDMI port on the TV - providing instant access to Windows 10 on my 50-inch TV. Armed with a wireless keyboard with built-in trackpad mouse, I have a fully-functioning Win10 PC when I need it, and all for less than $150. http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/compute-stick/intel-compute-stick.html

Pretty cool!

Eh. I think iPad is the best tablet. Toss up between iOS and Android, I prefer Android for my phone but I wish it talked to the iPad. IMO there is no practical difference between Windows and OS X.

They're just operating systems. It's like arguing Makita vs Black & Decker. Tools.

What is the best car wax? Answer: Who cares?

Do you have the Apple logo on your back window of your vehicle? I see the Apple family on the back of some cars..... Dad is the big apple, mom second and so on. Makes me take a peek out of curiosity to see who is behind the wheel.....

Our household has an iMac a MacBook 2 iPhones (5S,6S) 2 iPads Apple TV. We like them all very well. Computer wise since our departure from PC we would never return.
At Christmas I did get the Kindle Fire since it was 35.00 on Black Friday. May use it for travel in stead of my iPad (original). We have Amazon prime so I thought it would be a fun addition. It works well, but it has a slower response and the touch screen isn't as good when navigating and typing.

Another "mixed breed"...

I am admittedly something of a techno-idiot, with no allegiance (or objection) to any OS and no "attachment" whatsoever to Cupertino, Redmond or Mountain View.

I have a Nook HD+ for books (received as a gift), although I would probably have chosen a Kindle if I had been making the choice and purchase myself.

I'm no fan of Microsoft, but my desktop and laptop are nonetheless both Windows based, with no need or plans to change. However, when I finally relented and dumped the old "flip phone" for a Smartphone last year, I deliberately and willfully chose an Apple 5s --- which I have since come to regard as just about the greatest thing since sliced bread. Did not want anything larger in size than the 5s, so "passed" on the 6 or 6+, which seem (to me) like inconveniently sized "phablets" rather than "phones". I'm never carrying a "man purse" around and I want my phone minimally sized and secured on my belt, not in a pocket. Love the Otter Box "Defender" for that purpose.

I have neither the ability nor the interest to "get under the hood" of any computer related device to "tweak" things, which some techies apparently desire, therefore disliking and complaining about Apple products because they cannot do so (as is apparently possible with Android devices). As always, YMMV and to each their own.

The above said, I do find it quite absurd that my Apple 5s phone battery won't actually be "user-replaceable" when that time comes. That's just plain ridiculous, IMO.

Don't own anything Apple. Given that I can buy better technology for far less money, I don't see that changing.

I know mine is a minority point of view but having read bios of both Steve Jobs and Jeff Bezos I think they were/are both snakes. Thus I will have nothing to do with either Apple or Amazon. Never have, never will.

About 4 years ago, they switched us over to MacBook Pro's at work. I was pretty mad about it. But, I love it. I'm on my 2nd MBP from work, I've purchased my own MacBook Air, we have 2 iPad's and 4 iPhones. My wife and I have iPhone 6's. Our DD has an iPhone 4 and 5s, neither of which have cell service, as she is only 6.5 yo. She uses them for games and movies.

I have not gotten any Apple TV units because I have Roku and like it. The model I have has a USB port, so I have an external drive connected to it with about 100 movies on there.

But, love my Apple products!!

I understand your position, but you may want to look at it this way. Amazon makes so much money because they have so many customers. The reason they have so many customers is because their pricing and service is top notch. We are Amazon Prime members and take great advantage of it throughout the year. We save a LOT of money shopping at Amazon. Simple example. I really like a specific sock from Under Armour for working out. I buy from Amazon for $12 per 6-pack. Any store sells the same set of 6 for $19-25. I also don't pay shipping because I am a Prime member.

I've owned PC's and Macs. Currently have a Mac. I believe they are a superior computer over Windows based systems, but I do not bow down before the Mac alter.

Over zealous Mac people are, imo, odd.

Just as over zealous (fill in the product blank) people.

The folks that really grate on me are many of the Harley owners. They appear to be brainwashed.

Hey George. Just curious, what type of TV do you own? Vehicle? Clothing? Where do you typically purchase your durable goods? Grocery shop?

Please, do tell.

We have slowly become an Apple household as old items needed replacing. We now have a Mac desktop and lap top, 3 IPads and 3 Iphones. What I appreciate is how easy it is to have them all communicate with each other. i know non Apple stuff can do that, too but Apple makes it so easy for non techies like me.

My daughter in her 20s has an IPhone and wanted a tablet. She got a less expensive non Apple one, and ended up exchanging it for an iPAd. After being so used to the IPhone systems, she found it too much work to have to learn a different operating system. Having the iPAd was just so much easier.

My TV is a Toshiba, bought it at Walmart. My car is a Mazda3, bought it and my last 3 cars from a local Mazda dealer. My laptop is an Asus, bought from my local PC Repair Shop. I buy my groceries at Kroger and incidentals at Dollar General.

Whatever you use, just be sure to backup your data in multiple locations and on multiple devices. And, sync/backup those iOS devices and choose a strong password.

Mac, Windows, Linux, doesn't really matter anymore...if you know how to get stuff done and are happy with what you have, then great. Naturally we all have opinions on what we each prefer for whatever reason. However, I admit that my family primarily uses Macs and Apple products, though I don't mind at all when clients want to use Windows...since Windows takes much more effort to maintain and support, which directly leads to greater number of hours and work for my team...and more revenue...that permits me to buy more timeshares and vacation even more often! :)

Thanks.

Now, if you don't mind, could you share what you know about the backgrounds of the CEO's, and other top management of each of these? And their parent companies?

Not a darn thing as it pertains to Toshiba, Mazda and Walmart. The owners of My Mazda dealer and PC Repair Shop both have excellent local reputations. Ignorance is bliss. My problem with Jobs and Bezos is knowing the despicable way they treated their early investors and employees as described in the biographies of each.
