How many have called (or been involved with) the police while Timesharing?

There are multiple current threads about people calling the police due to noise, rudeness, or other inhospitable or illegal behavior at timeshare properties.

I'm just curious how many people have actually called the local police or been involved with the local police in any way while timesharing.

None for me so far, thankfully... How bout you?

I have not, but this option is a good tool to have. If the resort won't do anything about disruptive behavior then perhaps an incident involving the police will do something. Granted, the police won't respond just because they're called (and honestly I wouldn't expect them to for kids bouncing a ball). Of course there are certain "key" words that will cause them to respond; if the offending party is drunk, disorderly or threatening (to name a few) they are more likely to respond.

We have never had this problem in about twenty years of travel.

I don't know if we have just been lucky or just stayed in nice resorts where they would handle these problems.

Once I stayed at Wastegate for a presentation (before I knew better - I purchased, but rescinded which was HARD - but that's another story). There were people who were making SO much noise that my kids couldn't sleep. I was without my husband (a girlfriend and her daughter were in another unit). Anyway, I stupidly went and knocked on the door and asked them to lower their voices. I really was polite. But they FREAKED out. There must have been at least 6 kids that I could see - and many adults. THey screamed and threatened me. They threatened to find my room and wake up my kids and bother us.

Wastegate's security police did come and move me to another building.

I won't handle it myself next time.

We talked to the AZ police about an assault - they didn't/couldn't(?) do anything about it b/c the person had already checked out and gone home to another state, and we live in another state, and there was no hard evidence.....the police officer said he'd follow up with checking video cameras but we never heard back.

The management of my home resort called the local police about 20 years ago when the people who had rented took off on their own vacation leaving just the teenagers to roam, and do whatever they pleased. Can't remember the end results, but many "old timers" at our resort still remember those renters from h***! (Bubble bath in the hot tub, oranges and grapefruit being thrown off the lanais and stairways at guests, screaming all night, etc, etc.) Not the restful, quiet Spring Break all of us owners had anticipated!!

Once at a timeshare in Williamsburg, I made a steak on the stove and the smoke set off the fire alarm for an entire building. The fire department sent a couple of trucks. I was pretty seriously embarrassed.

Only once, thank goodness. Kelli and I were robbed in the Bahamas and the police were very very concerned. The bus driver stopped at the police station when I told him what happened. A young kid approched me and told me he would protect us if we'd give him money. I knew what was happening but was helpless to do anything. It was late at night and I was waiting on the bus. It was either my camera equipment & my camera or money. I chose money. shaggy

Oh, I've done it in my house! But when you do it in a timeshare, the alarm system automatically calls the fire department, and by the time you've called the front desk in a panic, the trucks are outside, and all the neighbors have been evacuated!

I now know that the response time of the fire department in Williamsburg is EXCELLENT. :whoopie:

We got WAY too well acquainted with the Canmore Fire Dept in June. Nice folks.

In Acapulco a few years ago I had my wallet taken, we filed a report at the police office. I didn't expect the man to be found but wanted it on record. The experience was
stressful but easy enough to do. I learned valuble lessons. don't be careless, don't trust everyone......
