I placed my first wait-list last weekend with some rented points. I am only looking for one night at Imperial Palms in May. The rep assured me that since there was a lot of time left before our trip that they should be able to confirm the wait-list. I am suspect because all owners would have already have had to convert their 2016 week to points last fall. That means that there would be no new inventory coming in unless they get a cancellation or can pull it from II. There is no inventory for that date in II for Marriott to plunder at the moment, if they would even do that.

Should I just break down and book Royal or Sabal. We were drawn to Imperial because it is 3BR and costs the same number of points as the other two. Though we should just book Sabal because it would be the last resort after a trip this fall that we would need to stay at in Orlando to say we have visited them all. The only concern about Sabal is there are no elevators and my in-laws are traveling with us, so an elevator is a must unless we can guaranty a first floor unit.

Dioxide,

No easy answer here -- I agree that there is alot of uncertainty about Imperial Palms coming through. Because I don't like to wait for exchanges, I would probably book Royal or Sabal -- and if the front desk at Sabal doesn't think they can guarantee you a first floor, then I think you should confirm Royal and be done with it. It's a bummer because it would be cool to hit them all, but you're already willing to concede that by targeting Imperial.

Good luck with this and let us know how it plays out.

Best,

Greg

Does your MIL use a cane or walker? Does she have a handicap sticker/hangtag for her car?

Request an accessible unit for her needs.

I know my wait list never came through. I cancelled it about a week before traveling since I would lose $ if it came after the cancel date of my back up reservation. I cancelled and immediately rooms showed then as available on the website.

I am not a fan of the system.

I've had 100% satisfaction with waitlisting into MFC in prime time at when the request was made at 12 months but I would think waitlisting at 5 months out is a longshot. On the other hand you're only looking for 1 day. I would keep checking on the website about 1 hour before Eastern time. I've seen days open up then that weren't grabbed by my waitlist request.

Do you have enough points that you can confirm a reservation for that night at Sabal or Royal and continue the wait list? Then you can cancel this reservation if Imperial becomes available. You will get all of your points back as long as you cancel it prior to the 60 prior to reservation. If you don't have confirmation prior to the 60 days, then I suggest cancelling waitlist at that time.

Unfortunately I don't have any extra points. I rented the 150 points needed for the one night reservation. With the points tied up in the waitlist, I can't do any other searches.

One other question, is there anywhere on my-vacationclub.com that I can see the actual wait list request that I placed? After placing the request it appears as though the points just vanished without a trace. If I hadn't of placed a request, I would think I had no points at all.

Nope, I do not know of anyplace that you can find a pending waitlist....

Dioxide, if there's a disability issue, contact the GM of whatever property you are reserving and explain the problem as soon as you've made your choice! One year I ended up on crutches but our reservation was for a 2-story townhouse at Lakeshore Reserve - I called the GM and explained that I could not do stairs at that point, and he managed to rearrange things so that I was placed in an accessible unit. Though nothing's guaranteed, where a real need is involved, they'll try to accommodate, I'll bet. Good luck!

I believe if you click Transaction Summary or Transaction History (whichever it's called) right below where it shows your points, then scroll to the bottom of that detail, it shows you pending wait list requests.

With Firefox or Safari those options are not available to me. I think they did work in Chrome but I don't care for that browser.

Weird. I am on a flight and just pulled it up on my iPhone using Safari and I can see that button.

I can see the buttons, they just don't work.

Double weird. Just clicked the button and it works for me in Safari.

At least you are giving me something to do on my flight. :D

Thanks. I found it under Transaction History. I had no problem with this button nor the Detailed Summary button.

This is one thing that I wish MVCI would change to be more inline with II. Allow one to still perform instant searches online even when the points are tied up in a waitlist. If I book a reservation with those points, my waitlist would cancel automatically.
