You don’t always get a confirmation if you gave the guest’s email. Sometimes the owner gets it, sometimes the guest. It’s a manual process…
Either way, it should drop from your “My Trips” on the Marriott website and that’s how you can know it’s done. The confirmation number does not change.
If you will be there to checkin, you don't need to do anything. You can provide additional guest names at checkin if desired. This can help if someone gets locked out and there isn't someone else there to let them in the room. They can go to the frond desk for a new key.

I submitted the 'Guest of Owner Form' first thing Monday morning and both the guest and I received regular Marriott confirmation emails (now in the guest's name) the very next day.
