How long is Marriott currently taking to transfer new ownership?

I am in the final stages of buying a Marriott Desert Springs Villas 1 from another Tugger (through the tug2 classified).

LTT is handling the closing and we are at the point where the recorded deed has been sent priority mail to Marriott. LTT indicates that I should be prepared for Marriott to take 4 to 6 weeks for them to recognize me as the new owner and add it to my account. :ponder: When I've bought previous DSV-2 timeshares, I don't recall that it took that long.

I'm wondering if there are other recent buyers out there who could opine on how long Marriott took for this final step?? I'm guessing that all of the Marriott transfers are done in the same dept. and that the transfer time is the same regardless of the resort. So, I would love to hear your own recent experiences. :ponder:

I purchased one late last year....took 6 days from the date the deed was recorded until I received the email from MVC indicating they had swapped the ownership over to me....and it took 2 days after that before the week showed up in my MVC account. I was impressed with their speed.

In my experiences it has always taken several weeks. Sometimes up to a month. The only time it took longer is when a transfer clerk at Marriott started processing the transfer but never completed it in the system. That one took me a while to track down what and why and have someone correct it. I've never had one transferred in 6 days or anything close to it.

I know much of it depends on who is doing the closing and not Marriott. Closers that are used to the old school methods of snail mailing everything will take much longer than someone who E-files the deed and sends documents electronically to Marriott (If Marriott accepts electronically). I don't see how Marriott could possibly have completed Fasttr's transfer in 6 days unless everything was electronic. Perhaps Marriott is now doing things differently. I have only received mailed transfer notifications and never an email.

thanks for the feedback. That's quite a range: 1 wk to a month or more.

I have two other Marriott resales and I don't recall every being contacted by them. But I was calling them on the phone at least once a week.

So right now, I'm checking regularly in my Marriott account to see when the new one shows up.

When you think of it, the amount of effort required to change ownership records has got to be less than the amount of effort a restaurant takes to provide a hamburger, order of fries and a Coke. Can you imagine going into a restaurant and having to wait 1-4 weeks? :hysterical:

I think it was just 10 days-2 weeks for my Grande Ocean purchase this June.

When you said "start", was that when you started the purchase with the seller, or is that when Marriott was sent the recorded deed? :ponder:
