When we were in the Outer Banks in June, we were trying to figure how long we have owned our ts. Turns out it's been 21 years, and I think I found tug about the same time -I'm not really sure though. Has tug been around that long?
Anyway, how long have you owned your first ts, and how long have you been a tug member?
Thanx,
Ron

WOW , 21 years... Thats Great. You probably have had alot of great vacations. We have owned our first timeshare, 6 years, and don't regret it.

Newbies Here.

Bought a (resale) timeshare in 2002.

Joined TUG in 2002.

The rest is history.

We bought our first ts in '83 and 'found' TUG about '93??????

I bought mine in the late 70's or very early 80's. Twas when they first came out. You're goin to loose all your money!!, etc. I have not regretted it. shaggy

First timeshare purchased in 1973. That was before TUG and resale. :D

We made our first purchase in 1992, and joined TUG in the late 90's.

Probably the 2 best decisions we have ever made!

13 yrs and planning many many more...

Bought our first at Presidential Resort when my son was only a few months old, didn't branch out til he was 7yrs and my daughter 5yrs and let's just say my now 4 year old has been to more places than most adults have been to in a lifetime. It made me wonder why I waited so long to branch out with the other kids...

6 years and counting

Had our first TS vacation in 2001, courtesy of a golf tournament prize. Bought our first TS resale in January 2002. Found and became a TUG member in 2007! We keep telling our two kids that they're so lucky to have been to as many places as they have in the last six years. As DH says, who knew that one golf prize would forever change the way we would vacation?!

Bought our second TS in 2007, the third just this past January. I think that's it for us ... for now, anyways. ;)

Bought my first in 1996

and haven't regretted it one day. We've taken great vacations and plan on many more. Timesharing has really ruined us for staying in hotels!:cheer:

Bought our first TS in 2004. Joined Tug in 2006.

We have owned for 19 years. My girlfriend let me borrow hers. Came back a owner and big time buyers remorse. We have never missed a year in all the time we have owned it. We figure we bought it, we are going to use it.

Joined tug in 2007.

After our first trip to Hawaii in 1995 we knew we wanted to go back. So when we went to a presentation in 1996 and they told us we could go to Hawaii we said sign us up! We didn't get back until 1999 and then have gone fairly regularly since then. I think we joined tug just before a 2002 vacation to Kauai. We bought another timeshare on that trip (oops! developer prices - we hadn't read enough to be dangerous yet!) We are grateful to those who have taught us so much and have had many great vacations due to all that has been shared here. Even with developer prices we have not regretted one minute of our purchase.

Makai Club

We bought our first timeshare in 1987 for our fifth wedding anniversary at the Makai Club. Unfortunately it wasn't resale. We got a lot smarter since joining TUG!

We bought our first timeshare on Siesta Key in 1985. Ray Harper introduced us to TUG in 2001. Thanks Ray!

Newbie

Wow,

I'm such a newbie. We bought our first in 2007. Bought our second in 2008. So far, we've been on 7 exchanges. I'm LOVING it.

Luanne,

Wow!!!!!!!! 1973. I didn't even know they had t/s back then. Do you still have that original unit? Where was it? So curious!

We bought our Marriott in 2003. Just discovered TUG in 2007. What I am most grateful for is that we bought our T/S right before our first chile was born. We will have soooo many great family vacations over the coming years. We have already had many great vacations and it's only been 5 years!

As much as we enjoy timesharing, I'm constantly surprised more families are not into it. But honestly, without TUG, I find timesharing a bit frustrating and confusing. I think more people would be into T/S if they knew about TUG first.

We bought our first in 1985. Abaco Towns By The Sea in Marsh Harbor Bahamas. Since the we have aquired several more. To date we have stayed at 117 different resorts. We are currently on a US tour. This is week 16 with all but 2 in TS we are booked through next spring and have requests in beyond that.

It may not be the best way to retire but I haven't found a better one yet.

Yep, still have it. It's at San Diego Country Estates. I didn't even know what timeshare was back then. My dad had played golf with a salesman from SDCE and he suggested Dad come down and check it out. We lived a little over an hour away at the time. So my mom and dad asked my then husband and I if we wanted to go along. Mom and I were sold when we saw the units, Dad and hubbie were sold with being on the golf course and getting to play free. They were sold in two-week blocks. We each bought a two-bedroom two-week floating unit. We bought them primarily to use, as you can break the time down by night. We'd use it for weekend get-aways. Within a year the four of us bought one one-bedroom two-week interval to use for trading. We shared ownership of that. When hubbie and I split he got the two-bedroom and I retained ownership of our half of the one-bedroom. I now have full use of both weeks of the one-bedroom. My mom sold the two-bedroom she and my dad owned. I think we paid somewhere around $5000 - $7000 each for the units back then.

Probably more info than you really wanted. ;)

I brought my ts in July 2007 with usage starting in 2008. I will be using my week in September of this year (YEAH!!). I joined Tugg in Aug 2007. Darn, should have joined earlier to learn about buying resale. Oh well, I still love my week.
