How long do you wait on a DVC?

I have a request in for DVC stay in June or July. How long do you wait on something to open up before you just chose somewhere else?

What size do you need? Which DVC resorts would you consider?

I'm waiting on May. When I start seeing postings of matches in May, if mine hasn't matched, I'll be deciding what to do.

There are lots of good choices in Orlando, lots of beautiful resorts that are going to be doable. July and August are tougher, but with likely six months lead time, I'd be waiting until I know my OGS (ongoing search) didn't match a bulk bank of Disney units into RCI

My comment about "seeing postings of matches" may not make sense. One of the perks of membership to TUG ss you will have access to the Sightings board. That is where you will get more information about when folks start matching their searches to Disney units.

I have 2 Adults and 3 kids (Ages 5-11). I do not care which DVC Resort we get, I'll take anything.

DVC has not been depositing 2BRs for almost a year. So, with five people, I'd be looking at one of the better non-Disney resorts instead. Bonnet Creek could be a good option.

Dvc usually does their deposits 5 - 7 months before check in. You may want to take something else and keep your search going for DVC, then replace it later if you get a match. This costs more (2 exchange fees), but at least you know you have a room then.
