How late to cancel club point reservation ?

How late can you cancel a club point reservation and still get back holding points? Concerned about weather in Hawaii and thinking of canceling our Kauai stay starting this Saturday.

Google search says day before arrival but doesn’t state exactly what time? Would it by 4pm (check-in time) the day before arrival?

I was looking at the T&C in a recent booking and seem to remember it can be cancelled at any time except for on the day of arrival so in my book that would be up to 11:59pm the day before, probably based on local time of the resort but maybe use EST to be safe.
 
i canceled a westin maui reservation in august booked using staroption 2 days before arrival. I was told i cancel cancel the day before and get restricted staroption back
