How easy to connect in Terminal E at IAH?

We had origionally booked Vancouver to Cancun on Continental with a connection in Houston. The flight had a layover of just over 1 hour.
Two weeks later we were notified of an itinerary change.
We are now flying United with a 39 minute lay-over in Houston.

Needless to say, we are a bit worried about making our connection.
I have been told as we arrive and depart from Terminal E, we should have adequate time.
Should I call United and try to move to a later flight?
Their next flight shows up as almost full.

Personally, I would just live with what you have. If you miss the connection because your incoming flight was late, you should have priority getting the next seats available. Too many times we make things worse by out thinking ourselves.

I always wonder why airlines sell flights with such tight connections.
but then you figure if they're selling it, it should be okay.... right?? lol

We had a schedule change once that had us flying into Atlanta 45 minutes AFTER our next flight was to leave. I had to call Delta myself to point out the issue! They had no idea how their computer let that happen.

If you have to clear customs at IAH, you will not have enough time between flights.

I guess I should give them a call tomorrow morning when I get off work..

we're taking the oldest GD so I don't want any problems if we can avoid them...

They'll clear Customs when they leave Vancouver.
