I'm relatively new to timeshares (aspiring buyer) and was thinking of getting into the world through a Vegas HGVC platinum deed.

Would it be hard for me to exchange for weeks at a ski resort during the season? (with season being roughly defined as December through March). I know Valdoro in Colorado is one that comes up a lot, but curious if I can exchange into other ski properties as well with HGVC platinum points.

We routinely trade our Marriott Shadow Ridge into Marriotts at Park City and Tahoe in early January and spring break. Always trading up to 2BR.

HGVC generally trades in RCI and not in II where Marriott/Westin/Sheraton/Hyatt resorts typically exchange (there are a few exceptions in both directions), but I'm sure the same principle applies - that as long as you are pretty open and aren't too focused on a specific resort/town or week, you'll usually be able to find a stay somewhere during ski season. It might not be the most popular resort/area or highest demand week (although those do pop up, especially in II with Marriott to Marriott preference), but it will fit the broad category of a ski week.
