How does Hyatt play into the Marriott system these days?

Please forgive me for I have not been up to date on all of the dynamics of Marriott these days. I have a busy work life so therefore I have neglected my TUG homework.

I do know that Marriott has acquired Starwood and Interval Interval in the recent past few years. However I see mention of Hyatt mixed in with a lot of discussion among the rumors and propaganda of various threads.

Also have neglected my personal timeshare travel vacations due to the other life sucking priorities. (Moving and relocating homes in 2 separate locations due to job relocation's. Family health and recuperation. Then mix in my mothers Alzheimer's, Dementia and funeral last month. Need I say more? By no means am I looking for sympathy. These are just the days in our lives. )

In the past 2 years most of my Marriott timeshares have been rented out to cover costs.

Now I am finally bored and able start to plan timeshare vacations again!

Up until the last 11 months I have been strictly a weeks owner. Last year I finally enrolled my 2 pre 2010 weeks into the DC program. Now I am taking my first foray into the DC points system :)

So please do tell. What is the deal with Hyatt?

Hyatt - Nothing wrt Marriott's acquisition of ILG last year. There has not been an update from Marriott as to how the future will look like wrt to an integration, or not.

When Marriott Vacations Worldwide (MVW) bought ILG (Interval Leisure Group) they acquired not only II, and the Westin/Sheraton timeshares (owned by ILG), but also the Hyatt timeshares (which ILG had acquired from Hyatt some years ago).

Most of the speculation around how the ILG merger will integrate has been about how MVW will integrate Westin Vacation Club, Sheraton Vacation Club, and Marriott Vacation Club, since all of those brands are owned by the Marriott International hotel company and all participate in the BonVoy loyalty program.

Hyatt is sort of the outlier in all this since their affiliation is with a totally separate hotel company. For now, the assumption is Hyatt will be kept totally separate due to this awkward hotel linkage. As far as the long term, speculation has been that MVW will possibly sell the Hyatt timeshare locations or even rebrand them in some fashion if they decide to keep them. I think the latter is unlikely since several of the Hyatt timeshares are co-located at Hyatt hotels. Time will tell.

It was previously reported that during an interview Steve Weisz mentioned that the VAC acquisition of ILG triggered a change of control provision in the license agreement between ILG and Hyatt. They are working on negotiations now with Hyatt. Given that it seems they would like to continue to utilize the Hyatt brand in the vacation ownership segment.
