How do we sell one vacation week?

We have a condo in Kissimmee reserved for us... but, with my parents divorcing we are canceling the trip.

Does anyone know how we could go about trying to find someone to sell that week to. I'm not even sure how much to sell it for.

Where should we go to find someone to buy it? How much should we ask? Should we do it on ebay and set a minimum bid? If someone has some ideas I'd really appreciate it. If we could sell the week that it would really go a long way towards our alternate vacation plans.

Thanks

I have edited your post above by removing all the details of the week that would make the post look like an ad. Ads are not permitted in this forum.

First of all, is this a week that you own or is it a week that you have exchanged for through RCI or II? If it is an exchange, it is against the rules of the exchange companies to rent it out to someone else. You can give it to someone by getting them a guest certificate, or you could cancel the exchange and lose most or all of your exchange fee, but get back the week you used to exchange with.

If it is a week you own, you may of course rent it to someone else.

Is it not possible to go to Kissimmee with your own family anyway? Just a thought.

We did think about that... but...

We planned this with my parents. We paid for the condo and were going to pay for our gas, food and souvenirs. They were going to pay for the park tickets with their Disney Visa points.

We will be short $1000. We are paying for our vacation with cash... we are in the process of becoming debt free and have committed ourselves to not using credit for vacation.

We will plan a WDW trip with just the 5 of us, minus parents for either 2009 or 2010.

Thanks for the edit. Being my first time here I had no idea (just wanted to include any info that might help answer my question).

We own a timeshare through Festive Resorts (our actual physical property is in Branson)... we exchanged it through II.

So... can we just cancel the week in Kissimmee, eat the exchange fee and use our free week and exchange it somewhere else?

Someone on another site (a homeschool site friend) suggested that I might be able to exchange the Kissimmee week within II???

We'll call II tomorrow. I'm not sure if Festiva is open on the weekend for telephone support... if not, we'll call them Monday.

At worse we'll be out a free week and the exchange fee. With Festiva we have unlimited $199 weeks that we are then allowed to exhange through II... so, the cost won't be too terrible considering... but, we'd like to figure it out to our benefit the best we can. (so our vacation budget goes further)

That's about your only option if you definitely don't want to go to the area. You can't exchange the week you exchanged for. Also, the earlier you cancel, the better. If you cancel late then there are more restrictions on reusing your week.

Another option would be to go to Orlando and do something cheaper than Disney. We bought annual passes for Universal Studios last year, for example. Compared to Disney tickets, they were dirt cheap. We like Disney better, but this was a good lower cost alternative. You can also get some good deals for the Busch Parks (such as Sea World). Sea World has the new water park that I haven't checked out yet.

You can find lots of non-Disney things to do in Orlando that won't break the bank. You can even go to Disney Marketplace (no charge) and do things like the pin trading that give you a taste of Disney. Or wander the Boardwalk or the Grand Floridian.

Another option might be to ask your parents to give you their Disney Visa points as your Christmas gift this year. They can hand the rewards card (not the actual Visa) over to you and you can use it just like they could.
