I recently bought a timeshare which is on the points system with RCI. I have received the deeds and the change of ownership has been registered with the resort. However, the resort says that it is up to the agents to register me RCI and transfer the existing points to my account. The agent says that it is the resorts responsibility. I called RCI and they say that I have to contact the old owners.

I was also told by the agents that RCI takes about 45 days to set up account. This surely cannot be true. Some of the points expire in December and ideally I would like to use them before they expire.

Could someone help me - How do I become a member of RCI and how do I transfer the points to the account.

Thanks

to use your points...

To use your points for 2005, if you are in good terms with former owner, have him call RCI and reserve a place for you. You might have to pay $ 49.00 guest certificate fee. It is kind of late to reserve for christmas. If you can't find the accomodation please go ahead and have old owner bank the week or points for future trade right away.

acat,

The seller will need to complete an RCI Points Membership Transfer Application (MTA), indicating what they wish to transfer over to you -- the entire account or just some points, etc. That is what the MTA form tells us. gidat1 has a good idea for the older points. You can travel as a guest on the seller's account until the MTA has been completed. Unlike brand new enrollments, the MTA's are processed within a week or two, depending on work volumes.

Please send an e-mail to feedback@rci.com and enter TUG in the subject line. The Communications Team can send you the necessary form with instructions. The Points version is not available online.
