How do I change the email on rental?

Hello, we are renting a week at a Marriott timeshare through Redweek, verified and protected, and I was just sent the confirmation however, although the name and address is changed, the email is still under the owner, and I would like to have it changed so we can add our bonvoy number. I thought they would do that when they changed the reservation. Is this typical? Can I call Marriott and have them change it or do I have to try to contact the owner? Redweek said they can’t do it. Crazy when they charge such a big service fee.
Thanks so much for any info you can offer.

Go to the Bonvoy website and don't log in to your account. Select Trips from the top line and fill in the confirmation number, check-in date and name that the reservation is in and go to find the reservation. Once you've got the reservation you should be able to add your Bonvoy number. If that doesn't work then call Bonvoy customer services and see if they will help, or contact the resort and get them to add your Bonvoy number to the reservation.

Its against the Bonvoy terms and conditions for someone who isn't actually staying on the reservation to have their Bonvoy number on it, but some people who rent out leave their name on to collect the ENCs and points.

Another option will be to just have them add/update the Bonvoy number at checkin.

I think that is what the new form was intended to prevent and I don't think it really happens anymore. When MVC makes the name change, they strip out the owner's Bonvoy number from the reservation. Though I am sure they may forget sometimes too.

Hopefully, though I read that some people who rent out leave their name on the reservation so they "retain visibility". Could be they do it when making the reservation as opposed to doing the guest name change process, Either way its wrong.........

I did this, however, it still has the owner’s email on the reservation and it doesn’t allow me to change it. It allows me to add our bonvoy number, but I don't want to do that with another person’s email on the reservation. Does that make sense? I thought it would all be done through Redweek.

When you log in to your Bonvoy account and find the reservation, can you change the email?

No, I can’t change the email. But I can see the owner’s email. I can only add a bonvoy number.

When I have added the Bonvoy number when not logged in, and it is successful, I then log in and find the reservation and then go to the reservation it allows me to add a different email to the one that is pre-set, Can you do that?

I don't think there is a way to change the email address. I understand that when Marriott updates the guest name, they leave the email address as is.

I remember people doing this years ago and some people even putting it into their contract for the guest to not change the Bonvoy number. Perhaps it is possible if you just add the guest name at the time of reservation, but I don't know how many reservations are rented out in such a manner. Most rentals on Redweek already have a reservation backing them.

I just called the timeshare front desk and the associate told me she changed the email and added our bonvoy number. Of course, after I hung up I checked and the email does not show as changed, so I called again, and she said it showed our email in the system but might take a little while to show up on the reservation.
***Edit and update…just checked and I was able to go in and change the other email to mine. Hindsite, you were correct, as I think it’s because my bonvoy number was entered that I was finally about to go in myself and only have our emails on the reservation. Thank you all for your help! ***

I am hoping this is the case. Otherwise, wouldn’t the owner be able to see our info?
The owner, and anyone with the confirmation, guest name and checkin date, can always pull up the reservation on Marriott.com
