It's the oddest thing that Vacation Internationale seems to have resale value. I have been watching prices on these go from almost nothing to a recent ebay listing that will likely cost about $2000 for an eoy by the time all fees are paid. I don't get it. The resorts are mostly old but they did acquire some inventory in recent years.

I almost took some points a few years ago but decided against it. They had some properties on different islands in Hawaii but some of the leases were coming to an end and they didn't know if they could renew or if they would try to acquire others.

I haven't kept up so I don't know if they have made any recent acquisitions anywhere.

If we’re talking about the same eBay listing, the contract expires in 2032. That’s six years of usage. Not including the 2022 mtnc fee, at the current bid it’ll cost appx $1300. That’s appx $200/ usage year. $200 plus the current appx $845 mtnc fee equals $1045/week plus $20 reservation fee for a one-bedroom in high season. Obviously the current bidder must think it’s worth it. Vacation Internationale contracts do seem to garner several bids on eBay. Perhaps the bids are from current owners who are happy with the system. I’ve owned a Vacation Internationale membership (resale) since 1993. I paid $4400 for it back then and have never regretted the purchase. I bought another resale Vacation Internationale contract last year via a TUG listing by Cabo Trade Company. It was an excellent buy. Vacation Internationale seems to do its best to be conservative with mtnc fee increases. Plus, they seem to treat their owners really well. Perhaps those two factors have something to do with folks being interested in purchasing resale VI contracts.

Very good question that I spent sometime last year trying to figure but could not get myself to buy. Some owners that I talked to do like the easy straight forward program and no hassle as with other major brands.

One factor could be that VI is one the few mini-systems that is completely owner-controlled and managed.

The bid doesn't include the closing costs of about $500. So to me it looks like the $830 bid which I think will increase, the closing costs, the $845 mf and sales tax. So maybe $2200 - $2500 ?

VI isn't doing resale transfers until after August is what I think I read on the website a while back.

I do like VI for bonus time and the Hawaiian resorts close to the water, but really, that's about it. Also VI has rules about renting out units for profit although I'm not sure they are enforced.

VI is a good system. A lot of these ads have quite a few points stored up so you are often buying prepaid credits at a discount.

VI has a few resorts that are very desirable, such as Torres Mazatlán and Vallarta Torre (both are RCI Gold Crown). Also, the Point Brown units are pretty great, especially if you get a second floor unit in the Pennsylvania building.

I traded into HGVC Elara and got a nice suite with an adjoining unit opened up - basically a two bedroom unit. I also traded into HGVC Bay Club one year.
I was amazed that I could trade VI points for such nice units via RCI, but it's because of the Mexican resorts, someone once told me.

I agree. We really like the Mazatlán and PV resorts. Last summer we had a penthouse at Point Brown that was really nice. The Valley Isle and Sea Garden are other VI resorts we like because of how close they are to the ocean.

I just don't understand how the resale value has increased with this resorts when resorts like Worldmark have decreased.
