How are people renting their weeks at The Manhattan Club?

I am an owner at The Manhattan Club in NYC. I have asked the resort a couple of times and they do NOT allow renting owners' weeks. Yet, there are plenty of ads offering weeks for rent. How is that possible? Am I missing something? If it is not legit, isn't it pretty risky for renters and owners?

I don't know why they told you that you would be unable to rent your week. Once you reserve your week, it is yours to do what you wish, trade it with SFX, RCI..., use it, or provide it to a guest (that would be the option to rent your week) and provide the guest name to the Manhattan Club.

It could be written 100% in the Club Rules (or whatever they have) that explicitly states renting is not allowed. On the other hand, maybe their rules *do* state you can rent with caveats.

HGVC, for example, allows renting, but ONLY for your Home Week.
Yet, many people rent their "points" weeks.

RCI has something similar (I forget but I could've sworn they allow for renting of a specific type of week).

Whether anyone gets caught/etc and what the consequences are is a diff. best.

Unless I'm mistaken The Manhattan Club is one of the most frequently rented hotels on Redweek so i would check out Redweek and see what you can learn from there.

I guess I'm lucky. Neither of my big timeshare companies have this restriction, Marriott and Disney Vacation Club
