Can't decide on which resort for our next trip.

Been to Horizons and GV and had a good time. Never been to CH.

Kids are 12, 11, 5 and love the pools.

I know many here love CH but not sure if it will be too peaceful for my kids :)

Thanks,
Jen

it will be too peaceful for [your] kids :)

see edit. ;)

With three kids, I'd try for one of the 3 BR units, I think that's at Grand Vista.

:D

Yup....my kids are definitely the Horizons mini water park, action type of kids.

If it's going to be hot and you'll spend a lot of time at the pools, probably Horizons would be my pick. But, saying that, I adore Cypress Harbour (it is my favorite resort in Orlando along with Disney's Wilderness Lodge). :)

I like the refillable mugs at Cypress Harbour - you can refill them yourself at the Marketplace. Also, the quick food area is nice - Pizza Hut Express and nice grilled quick food, too. There are three pools - one of them is an island pool.

I've read several times TUGgers comparing CH to a Disney resort in the feel of the place.

And we are total Disney people. This will be our first week and then at Animal Kingdom the second week.

And not having tried CH before I'm leaning that way but it will be June and the kids love spending time at the pool.

I would choose Cypress Harbour. It has a nicer feel to it and the villas are nicer than Horizons. There are a lot of things for the kids to do. To me, Grande Vista seems like a concrete monster, but the golf course and pool views are very relaxing. CH has quiet views also and seems smaller without the high rise feel. Debby

CH is my top pick. It is self contained and very safe. Much of it is shaded whereas the other two are not.

I'm not sure that the pools at Horizons will be a bit on the young side for your two older kids. Horizons is totally geared for families. There is also ongoing construction there.

GV is awesome...if you get a good unit, and if you get a building near the main pool or new pool. If you don't, you will be walking to everything. Spending a week in a golf course villa is totally different than being by the pools and activities.

We own at Cypress Harbour and absolutely love it there. When my two boys were growing up they loved the pools, the entertainment center, the paddle boats in the lagoon, Pizza Hut etc. Now that they're all grown up, they still love to vacation with us there, now we take our granddaughter. It's such a great place to come back to (Key West feel) after a long day at the parks. The enclosed patios look over the lagoon (very relaxing). Try it and I think you'll be quite pleased.

Thanks for the replies. Decided to give CH a try since we haven't stayed there yet.

We will be at Royal Palms on the 25th of this month. We own at CH but have never been to the World Center complex. I curious if any tuggers have been to both CH and Royal Palms and if so, how you would compare the two. I'm assuming that units at RP have been refurbished at some point as they are probably one of the oldest Marriott's in Orlando.

TIA

Yeah. Royal Palms has been refurbished. I called and asked. We're staying at Imperial Palms in March to give the Palm Marriotts a try. But I'm also staying at Cypress Harbour later that week, too (I just couldn't give up Cypress totally to try something new). ;)

When you get back, try to let us know your thoughts on the comparison between the two resorts.

I stayed at RP prior to refurb and have stayed at CH three times.

There is absolutely no comparison. They are very different.

RP is on a golf course in the corner of the World Center compound. Units are huge, but nothing fancy. The marketplace is small and forgetable. The pool is ok. The grounds are very impressive with lots of tropical plants. You get all the bang for your buck by having access to the Marriott (restaurants, food court, great pool, fitness center, etc.). The Marriott is a five or ten minute walk from RP around a road and up a hill. There is a shuttle.

You know what CH is like so I won't go into that.
