Was just at Grand dessert. Attended the group presentation (that's a whole nother story). While there turned another platinum member onto TUG. I felt good about that. Later in the elevator encounter some young (early twenties?) people who had just bought for $15,000 that morning and asked if we where owners and like Wyndham. We told them we loved the resorts and had been owners for over a decade. I then explained about resale and rescission. I pointed them at TUG for explanations and fact checking and urged them to rescind and buy resale. I also warned them to follow the rescission instructions in their contract exactly and not talk to the sales staff any more. Hopefully they did this and have rescinded.

The Grand Desert sales staff appears DRIVEN to keep a "SOLD" client under their thumb.

When last there, the sales guy stalked me in the lobby as early as 6:15AM ... I was stunned as I was still on EAST COAST time zone (hence, wide awake). And I ran into him another 5 or 6 times ... I truly believed he was stalking me (or living in the lobby and hallways). I did bolt from the update ("work emergency") ... he thought I was a SOLD mark ... I collected my loot after I side-stepped him.

one of my best experiences with sales was at Grand Desert. When I was there I didnt have more than a few million points and was still Silver VIP. The salesman I got was new and had a more experienced guy to watch over him. Once it became clear where I got my points and that I knew the system as well as most (and better than my new salesman) the experienced guy cut the new guy loose to pick up some fresh meat and he (the experienced guy) and I has a nice chat. He knew right off the bat that I wasnt going to buy anything at rack rates, so he showed me a "foreclosure" that would have brought me to Gold. His pitch was that Gold was a whole lot better than Silver and almost as good as Platinum.

I think he was right and nothing Ive seen since then tells me any different. I didnt buy; he made one last try and then took no for an answer. He was completely respectful of my time, my financial position and most important my knowledge of the system.

The breakfast there was perhaps the best free meal Ive ever had at one of these presentations

You guys must be billionaires because every time I go to get a "parking pass" they always tell me they aren't doing informationals for current owners. Maybe next time. I grab my pass and go on my way.

I guess they know, this guy is already over 1 Million resale, he's not gonna but a damn thing from us.

Hope it works out for them. My experience is that it rarely does. They don't want to make waves, or they (mistakenly) think they've developed a friendship with the sales weasel, or they wouldn't think of buying 'used' (though we all know that EVERY timeshare is used), of somehow they see 'value' in the presentation.

If it matters to you, hopefully you can see them in the hot tub, or buy them a beer. I wish you good luck. (and them logical thinking)

up until this trip I was on the no fly list as well. I think that may be why I got such a hard sell, to make up for scheduling me by mistake.

They always tell me they aren't doing owner updates anymore. But then they say it's a survey, maintenance fee elimination program or something else. And of course, they want to bring me a welcome gift. I wish I could get on the no-fly list, but they hit me up every.single.time, even though I have never been to one presentations and bought all my points resale. Doing the "parking pass shuffle" is my least favorite thing about Wyndham.

They always tell me they aren't doing owner updates anymore. But then they say it's a survey, maintenance fee elimination program or something else.


After a really bad update at Canterbury, we won't be doing any owners updates anytime soon.

At our recent stay at National Harbor when the parking pass person asked what our plans were for the weekend, I said "not an owners update". Didn't smile, didn't explain, and didn't engage them.

As there a way around the whole parking pass people? Can I get our parking pass from the front desk people?

Same. I don't know if the parking pass at Wyndham is pretend like it is with Worldmark. If so, just don't go get one and unplug your phone. I did that this weekend and it worked great. I didn't see any cars flying the "parking pass" in the parking lot and we use our room keys to get in and out of the lot.
