Anybody have any suggestions for getting a cheap car rental at the Honolulu airport May 28 for 10 days?

Hi - depending on where you are staying (i.e., do they charge for parking?) and how much touring of the island you plan to do ... you may find you only need a car for about half that amount of time. Just compare the rates of the major rental companies on-site at the HNL airport. There are smaller, private rental companies on the Hawaiian Islands that ARE cheaper, but I personally stick with the well-known companies (Hertz, Avis, Budget, Dollar, ...). If you Google "rent a car in Honolulu" you will find the sites to these other vendors. Hope this helps!

My suggestion would be to try this link. I've found it to be the cheapest of any on any of the islands, plus you end up working with the brand name companies at a cheaper rate.

Good luck!

What size? Costco.com shows around $445 for an Intermediate size for the ten day period. Some smaller sizes are less. If you can pick it up at the Waikiki location on Ala Moana Blvd it's about $30 cheaper. Unlimited mileage and free second driver.

We just got back from 2 weeks in Hawaii with 9 days /8 nights @ the Imperial. We only needed and rented a car for 2 of the 8 days and that was enough to cover Oahu with lots of stops for hiking, snorkeling, lying on the beaches and sight-seeing. The other days we were able to walk to where ever we wanted to go and a couple of days we were picked up by the dive shop when we went diving. Through Thrifty Auto rental we paid $74 for 2 days for the car and $20 the Imperial charges for 1 night of valet parking. Unless there are several of you traveling together, or have plans to travel around the island almost every day, I would combine travel to a few days just rent a car the days you need it.
