When you buy Holiday Inn Signature Points are they connected to a resort or simply open points?

When you buy developer signature points, they will be associated with a "home" signature resort where you will have a 13 month reservation window for signature units. You can use the points at any other HICV resort (or the regular units at the "home" resort) during the 10 month open reservation window.

If you buy them on the secondary market, in general, you only have a 6 month reservation window at the home resort only. There may be some exceptions based on 3 resorts whose points are more flexible, but IDK if they have signature points available for resale that are not restricted.

Went to an owner's update today. They are pushing very hard to sell Signature points. The owners next table over were being pushed to upgrade to more pts to include purchase of a majority of it to Signature. Even in our own sales pitch, they wanted to take back our current standard trust pts deeds and make us purchase all new Signature. That's just Wild! It did make me wonder can they be running low on standard pts inventory! Supposedly, they are going to build another development next to the very recent Myrtle Beach Ocean Front resort and some Residence-like developments for Myrtle Beach as well, just like at Orange Lake. So it seems an influx of Signature pts inventory will be added in future.

We went there to genuinely get info and pricing on moving to next tier for the benefits since we primary do use HICV properties and our current pts package. THANKS to TUGBBS and finding this site we went there with more knowledge than they expected. This update got a bit confrontational since we were able to call the rep and her manager trying to TO us, out on some of thier shady tactics. Which is unfortunate since we do/did want to move up.

At what point can regular points be used for signature units? I think it's 60-90 days but I can't remember.

Prime members (150k pts) window opens at 59 days so it's basically open access. Next tier is 90 days, the next is 6 months, 8 months, 9 months, then 10 months for top tier. However if you own sig pts w the specific resort you get 13 months. But u have to have enough sig pts only at that 13 month window to book a 7days min. During open access u can book w any combo pts.

TLDR- I've tried Signature at most of their popular locations. Aside from Orange Lake, the treatment was similar if you just book regular, so it's not worth it. You get the sparkling and mineral waters and they use to have a nice assortment of espresso coffee and fine teas. Now they have Kcups that I'm not a fan of Starbucks brand. Overall, I would say most Signature units or entire bldgs seem better built structurally. I never really heard too much noise through the walls or floors as compared to non sig villas at same resorts. Or maybe it was the guests, or less units per bldg, etc. But overall in my experience, booking Signature isn't really worth it w HICV.

Orange Lake, FL you get the wrist bands for the lazy River tubes, free mini golf, softer cushions at River island-side, and concierge that will restock your basic villa supplies.

Seaside Resort in Galveston bf the hurricane in 2023, you get the 2BRs villas right on the Gulf overlooking the infinity pool vs. the standard bldgs across the st at main check in compound. Just stay at the other Galveston beach resort in town and not Seaside if u can't book Signature here.

Cape Canaveral, FL only has 2BR and 4BR Signature villas...so it's worth it if you are tiered high enough you can get to use your free upgrade to 4BR. Worth it, but they book out quick. However, the bldg by the ocean is likely better option than the Signature units.

Gatlinburg, TN. Nice Signature villas, but we had German Roach family in the espresso machine. So I don't think I will book at that resort again. Will never get over that experience just trying to brew some coffee that morning, especially since it was in their 4BR unit.

Las Vegas was nice and decor made it feel like Vegas.

Myrtle Beach - both resorts. Personally I like the SouthBeach Signature bc you at least have the nice soaking tub. The new Beachfront villas only has walkin showers and standard tiny tub/shower combo. I'd opt for the SBR over new resort and save your pts if you are going to book signature.

Williamsburg, VA was just OK. If I visit again, I would just book reg room. Decor was nicer, but not worth it imo.

I just got a booking this yr at Sunset Cove, FL so I'm looking forward to it and expect it to be nice since the entire location is Signature. Very hard to book tho so I think most villas are still deeded.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for this clarification. We have stayed at Seaside many times was looking to stay Signature in the near future renting from an owner (with points). Several reasons for the Signature units. Taking family with disabilities and want to see the waves from inside the unit is what we are looking for. Having an elevator is a MUST. Hope we can find something that fits the bill.

You may want to look at the Galveston Beach Resort and find a 2BR Villa (Not a lockout). The 2BR are on the end of the building, overlooking the gulf. Both buildings (East and West) have elevators.

I can't recall if the sig units at Seaside had an elevator but I recall the parking area being very tight and a 1way, that ppl used for 2way. I would also recommend the Galveston Resort instead then.
