I saw a thread from 2010 about Holiday Development Inc, and a warning that they MAY be a scam. Does anyone have any positive information about them? They say they have a purchaser for my Cancun timeshare, but want $2,100 up front on a credit card, which will be refunded at closing, 90 days out. I am leary. Thanks to anyone that can help me make the correct decision. Sure would be nice to sell this Royal Islander Timeshare.

You are right to be leery. No legitimate resale broker will ever require an upfront payment. Any commission would come out of the proceeds of the sale just like regular realtors operate. The only thing you can be certain of is that you'll never see your $2,100 again if you become their victim.

Here is a recent sale at your resort on ebay. This gives you an idea of what they are selling for. This ebay sale is even a little suspect because there was only one bidder who outbid himself to bring the price up to $4000.

Did the person who contacted you say they had a buyer at a significantly higher price?
