Thanks for the link; someone else had mentioned the article in a posting. My input on the subject for Travel + Leisure would be that they've put a barrier in place for me as a hybrid owner to buy more from them - I've got a small resale EOY that just gets me 1 HK. If they don't figure out a way to let me use the HKs that come with my developer points when I make a combined booking (not the VIP add-on HKs or the unlimited ones), they can't sell me anything that will solve my problem of having to pay $159 extra for making to 70K bookings that use resale points. I can only solve that problem by picking up a small EOYE contract that will get me another resale HK or two, so I definitely won't be part of that $12.5B.

This senior citizen will not purchase any more timeshare resort even at one dollar.

This just goes to show the warped minds of senior Management when it primarily comes from the Sales side and not Resort Management side of the Business.

I think before they worry about upsells, housekeeping needs to get in line. There has been a noticeable decline in cleanliness, proper stocking of rooms, and maintenance in units over the past year. New owners who “get a taste” of that won’t be lured into much.

100% resale!!
“It’s not about marketing. It is about owner occupancy,” Travel + Leisure Co. CEO Michael Brown said in an interview with Skift. “The more owners we get back to our resorts on an annual basis, the more they enjoy it, [and] the more they buy.”

This is true for me, but it makes me buy more RESALE lol....

Well, it’s actually marketing, though, isn’t it?

I wonder what the newest generation will bring. My 3 year old granddaughter is being introduced to vacationing Wyndham (presidential) style. When we arrived at Daytona Ocean Walk in August, the fireworks were going off over the pier. When we arrived at Glacier Canyon last night, she said 'ocean...pool...fireworks'? She was so disappointed they don't set off fireworks every time you arrive. They have some high expectations to meet. In all seriousness, though, can you imagine this girl in a hotel room? My kids are Wyndham snobs, and now starting on the grands.

I know what you mean, Sandi Bo. My niece and nephew have always travelled with their favorite ('natch...;)) aunt and uncle to condos and the first time we stayed in a hotel with them (and it was only for sleeping after a full day at a theme park in NH), their first comment upon entering a family suite (large hotel room) was: "It's so small".

Cheers!

I am a Wyndham snob also. Will I stay in a hotel room again? Not as long as there are better & nicer options.
Cheers,

Bob the snob

I had to stay in a hotel room recently, after checking in both me and my wife commented about how spoiled we were with staying mostly in resorts.

We are at Glacier Canyon, now. First time and loving it. Other family (daughter and her in-laws) are in nicer units, my husband and I were in a 1 Bedroom Deluxe (until the people above us left their hot tub running and we got a free upgrade to a 2 bedroom deluxe at 2:30 in the morning - whole 'nother story). We were joking all week - only 4 coffee cups, only 4 towels, only 1 bathroom? Even before the flood, we'd joke about the people above us. How do people live like this?

In a couple weeks we're heading east to visit my Mom. Daughter says 'we have to stay in a hotel'? The kids have to sleep in the same room as us? (She's upstairs here in a 3 BR Pres, her other family in a 4BR Pres). I think when we head to my Mom's we'll stay about 1.5 hours away at Bentley Brook. She might be my #1 snob.

I understand us being on the no tour list. I love it. But some of the people with us are quite impressed overall. I would hate to see them buy, and would intervene as much as possible, but probably not the worst possible sales prospects.

Timeshares have definitely spoiled my kids. I remember (and it's been many years ago). We went from Houston to San Antonio to pick up a DR Mower. Youngest DS was with us and when we checked into the hotel for the night his first comment was.... wheres's the kitchen.

I came from extremely meager means, which meant me sharing a bedroom with my younger brother from age 2 to age 12, then sharing a single bedroom with both my brother AND parents in a 750 sq ft "home" from age 12-15 before finally getting my own bedroom when we moved into a larger home. At one point in college I had 4 roommates and was working two jobs. This was back when minimum wage was 4.25/hr and that's what i made... because people worked back then and didn't think they deserved to be paid more than they were worth.

Anyway, rant aside, my son, and eventually grandkids will be completely spoiled by having mostly never had to deal with such conditions, and actually getting to take vacations and stay somewhere in style. They won't know it, but they will be staying in a vacation suite almost 2 and in some cases 3 times larger than the home I grew up in. With much nicer accommodations.
