We bought in PV at Fiesta Americana in 1989. This resort has been bought and sold numerous times. The latest being Hola Puerto Vallarta. We have tried to contact them several times to request a bill for maintenance fees in order to exchange our weeks through RCI. No response. Has anyone out there any information about Hola Puerto Vallarta? Thanks for any info you can provide. We don't know what to do.

As far as I can tell they seem to be two separate entities, and they sit side by side. Why do you think that Hola bought the Fiesta Americana??

In 1989 when we purchased this timeshare, Fiesta Americana Hotel was the developer for the adjacent resort - it was all part of the same organization. A couple of years later the timeshare property was separated from the Fiesta Americana Hotel and marketed as Qualton Club. Two years ago Hola Puerto Vallarta bought out Qualton Club. Now 20 years later we are unable to exchange because we have received no communication from the Hola PV resort. Thousands of units were sold; is there anyone out there with the same problem of being unable to exchange the Hola Puerto Vallarta property due to a failure of the resort to respond to our numerous requests. What should we do?

Here is my opinion (Maybe there is an attorney or other minds that could add to this or improve on my thoughts I am not an attorney)
1. I would send them a letter stating they have 30 Days to communicate with you or you will quit claim deed back to them, and will relinquish all rights but will not pay any more maintenance Fees due to their unwillingness to communicate with you. I would tell them if they do any further collections or damage your credit in any way you will hold them civilly liable for any damages if you quit claim the property as they have withheld use from you. They have failed to perform with your original contract. Then quit claim it.

2. If you are a member of RCI there are some great Last Call and Extra Vacations you could use.

3. There are timeshares for Sale on TUG, Timeshare Forums, Ebay, Holiday Group, Red Week, Tri West Timeshare etc. Many are very cheap right now and some may even be $ 1.00 or Free. Some owners want out of their contracts and are just glad to get rid of them. Do the research and you will be able to find a great one. Follow advice here on how to buy. Look at the TUG advice section especially Timeshare 101 by Steve Nelson.

Wendy - I just saw you post about the Hola Vallarta. I was there last year. I posted extensively about the situation on the Tripadvisor forum, so rather then type it again, you can see it here (I'm BigPVfan):

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopi...wners_here-Puerto_Vallarta_Pacific_Coast.html

If that is too long, try: http://tinyurl.com/c3gc52

Be sure and see my last post at the end.

p.s. The timeshare person there (at least last May) is Guillermo Padilla guillermopadilla@holapuertovallarta.com

If you want to contact me directly, you can get my e-mail address at the bottom of my web page http://www.lafn.org/~bb272
