I was hoping to get some info from any of you who have been to Scotland. I'm interested in something "nice", so was wondering what the Hiltons are like. I have a conference that I may need to attend in Edinburgh next September.

We'd be interested in the typical tourist stuff, having never been to Scotland. I guess castles and hiking and the like. And definitely some cycling.

We don't have anything that exchanges with Hilton, everything we have is in Interval. But maybe I could get something through SFX or a private exchange. We have a bunch of Starwood points but it looks like Starwood only has 2 properties in all of Scotland.

Thanks for any help

HGVC does have a few timeshares in Scotland, but I believe they are a ways outside of Edinburgh. I don't think they would really work for a conference. Or were you talking about using the timeshare for some sightseeing before or after your conference?

The Edinburgh Residence is in the best location for you in my opinion.

You can ride out of the city in short time.

Wonderful city, nice timeshare.

Sorry to be confusing. The conference is in Edinburgh but it's only 3 days. We're looking to turn it into a 2 week vacation in Scotland.

A week in Edinburgh - lots to see and do after the conference.

Day 4:The Royal Mile with the Castle and the Palace at Holyrood would take a couple days at a leisurely pace or one day if you set a fast pace. Nice shops and areas of interest along Princess including the Scottish National Gallery.

2nd week: You could set up a bike route and bike from- to different B&Bs along the way up to the Highlands or other.

Visit Nessie, too.

I love Scotland. Nicest people.

Oh, will Antony Moore or Dave Ruslander be attending the conference ?

Hilton in Scotland

I have visited Scotland. Whats date are you traveling? I know of a none Hilton timeshare that is nice in St. Andrews, which is totaling different from lovely Edinburg.

I stay at a Hilton Timeshare. I would describe all three Hilton timeshares as being geared toward the European pleasure of being in the Countryside. So a visit to one major city is possible for the day, but the majority of the time you are in the Forrest appreciating nature.

As an alternative, for example Hilton Honor points got me a VIP room and breakfast in the City of Aberdeen. So decide for example if you want to visit cities, stay in the countryside, or pursue golf and that my decide your best approach.

Nope. It's the meeting of the European College of Verterinary Neurology. Just neurologists. I'm going to miss the American Meeting this year, that one includes oncology and internal med and cardio, it's way bigger.

Thanks for the tips. It looks like I have found a rental through TUG for Edinburgh residences, so now we are thinking a week in Edinburgh and a week elsewhere.

I was looking at it this am. I think we could fly in to Edinburgh and spend a day or two in the St Andrews, Glamis, Balmoral vicinity. Then maybe 3ish free nights at the St Regis in Troon. Then a few days cycling in the Galloway area combined with sightseeing.

I was kind of thinking of confining ourselves to the mid and southern parts of the country, in part because of time constraints and in part thinking the weather will be better.

Big mistake to skip the highlands, do you think? We love architecture and would be pretty interested in things like castles, cathedrals, abbies, and the like. Apparently Galloway is pretty nice for cycling.

The Highlands may be a bike trip for another visit or you can relax and take a day trip out like we did. http://www.highlandexperience.com/

Cheaper than renting a car for the day and you can see a lot in one day.

How 'bout wandering 1-way from Edinburgh to Inverness.
We did that in reverse: Flew into Inverness + stayed at Coylumbridge.
Among other things, we did a boat ride on Loch Ness.
