Hilton Vilamoura - HGVC - looking to buy a timeshare

I'd like to find a timeshare deal at Hilton Vilamoura in the Algarve, Portugal. I see deals online for $15000-$30000 in the secondary market! I know it's a recent resort, but those prices in the secondary market seem too high.

It's been reported in the thread below that the resort owners have taken back a lot of the timeshare units (from 69 down to 16 timeshare units left). It's an older resort (not a recent resort).

Be aware that it is a RTU that ends in 2041

I moved your thread to HGVC forum because I think that you will get much better response here. I know that we have several TUG members who own at HGVC Vilamoura. I think that @Cyberc and @ocdb8r might both own there

There a few "amazing" deals out there for these weeks. During the pandemic (when many Brits could not travel) I picked up my 2-bed Platinum week for GBP 5500 (and at that time the GBP was struggling, so the conversion was favorable). Now, most weeks I see are in the GBP 8500-12,500 range. I used Worldwide Timeshare Hypermarket, which tends to cater to the UK. I would reach out to them on one of the weeks they have listed, let them know what you're looking for and your max budget. They can canvas the owners they have listings for and see if they can get close.

We love the Algarve and the resort is nice. It's not as plush as some of the other HGVC resorts, but the units are well cared for and the overall complex offers everything we need for a week.

Do all contracts expire in 2041, or just some?

My understanding is that they all do at Vilamoura because the property is going back to the developer and when I have asked what would happen then, it didn't sound like folks knew but maybe some of the owners there can answer that.

This is why I can't justify "owning" there. If you take 17 years of use plus the MFs it seems like there is not a huge value.

Agreed; everyone has to do their own math. Right now, MF are about a third what it would cost to "rent" via Hilton and were under EUR 800 last year. If I thought I could trade in via my other HGVC points or even rent from an owner, I wouldn't have bothered purchasing. However, it's VERY difficult to trade in almost all year (and near impossible during the peak seasons - we got in after trying for about 4 years ONLY during COVID when we could travel within the EU but Brits could not) and I very rarely see any owner rentals. It will only take me a few years to recoup my initial buy-in so I was fine with a 2041 expiration.

Also consider 4 Seasons across the golf courses. Very nice! Not in Hilton system but trades RCI. Large apartments and well appointed.

If you buy Craigendarroch lodges you gain access to DeX which has plentiful Vilar du Golf resort. We haven't stayed there but photos look nice.

Agreed on the 4 Seasons. A very decent resort and we like the "Old Village" area it's in.

I am very curious about the Vilar do Golf resort in Almancil. It's a bit closer to the airport in another gold community. If anyone stays there, do report back!
