Hilton Resale Questions/Advice!

I am looking to purchase my 1st hilton timeshare. I am thinking between 6000 to 8000 points and had a few questions I hope the community can answer for me.

- Do resale owners have access to international destinations (this is the main reason for the purchase, to supplement my MVC membership)?
- How easy is it to book international destinations?
- Are resale owners still able to convert to HHonors points?
- The fees I have seen online seem extensive, I'd love some feedback from current owners on their experience/feelings about the fees.
- Does buying resale Hilton Club provide any additional benefits over HGVC?
- Any additional advice welcome!

Depending on if you are looking at HGVC/HC or DRI/HVC, the answers will be different.

• for locations, look at the website, HGV - https://www.hiltongrandvacations.com/ and DRI - https://www.diamondresortsandhotels.com/ plus there also options in RCI
• For HGVC, Scotland is pretty easy, but Italy and Portugal can be limited. Mexico is easy but I have not tried Japan. That is about all the international locations with HGVC/HC. There are more international options in RCI though. DRI has more options than HGVC but I don't think they are as resale friendly as HGVC
• Resale ownership is the same are retail ownership for almost all benefits, including conversion to HH.
• Look in the TUG sticky about the fees. There are fees for about every transaction unless you are Legacy Elite Premier or Max
• Buy HC is really about using that ownership. They tend to have higher MFs so the benefit is about the use, such as access to the owners lounge, higher HH conversion, and a longer booking window
• when looking for a resale, I look at cost/pt and mf/pt. Our last resale purchase had a cost/pt of 0.24 and the mf/pt is 0.09. Ideally, your mf/pt is 0.10 or less but 0.12 isn't bad. The higher it gets, it is less favorable unless it is the specific location that you after. People buying in specific high demand locations will pay more and it may have higher MFs but they want that specific location versus cheap points to use anywhere.

I always wonder how people decide the points they are looking at.

The sales person flagges 25,000 or so and we balked at the $80,000 price point. They downgraded to 5,440 EOY for $20,800.

We purchased resale two contracts with a combined 26,000 for $10k-ish. Those fees really do add up.
