I am seriously thinking about buying a HGVC resale TS. Can you gift points to others or buy just points from someone else. For instance, if I am 1500 points short from where I want to go, is there a market to buy points from someone, so you don't have to upgrade and pay more MF?

Better to borrow from future years. No cost, no hassle.

You can also augment additional days with open season rates or hotel points from Aspire credit card.

No, you cannot gift or buy points from someone else. The only thing you can reliably do is to borrow next year's points for your reservation, but of course you will have to manage your use of points for the following year.

I moved your thread to the HGVC forum. I think specific to HGVC are more appropriate there and you should also be better response from our great group of HGVC tub members which includes @CalGalTraveler.

There isn't a site or place to exchange HGVC points but it can be done via a 3-way call to CS with both parties.

Kurt, we have had TUG HGVC members report transfering points in a previous thread. I also know one of the FB pages posting about selling/buying points.

Yes, I realize there have been one or two people who reported that they were able to do this in the past. However, at least one person said that they were told by a customer service rep that is was not possible, but they called in and talked to someone else and then got it done. With those experiences that have been reported, I personally would not make a purchase decision based on the ability to transfer points. In addition, I get the feeling that the OP was looking for a Disney or Worldmark type of system where there is a reliable market for purchasing or renting points, and I didn't want to give the impression that HGVC had that type of market available to owners.

Bottom line, while it may be possible, HGVC does not advertise it and I certainly would not rely on such a feature.

As others have said you can "bank" and "borrow" your points, so if you had a really "expensive" stay you wanted, you could bank/deposit (there is a fee for this) say, 2019 points into 2020. then in 2020 you could ALSO borrow 2021 points, so you could, in theory, utilize 3 years worth of points (keeping in mind that come 2021 you'd have zero points, but you could continue to borrow 2022 points for stays in 2021).

I'm always in the latter situation (this years points = zero, I borrow against next years). There's no fee to borrow next year's points.

Now, as to "gift" points. Sorta.
This isn't advertised (it's not in the Club Rules book). You, and another owner have to initiate a 3-way call to Hilton. You BOTH have to give your account info and passcode/passphrase to initiate the transfer (so basically I'd advise that if you do this, should only be between like relatives or a VERY close friend). There "gifter" can gift you however many points they have (for that year). Saved points cannot be gifted. I don't know if borrowed points can be gifted. The points will show up pretty much immediately.

Legally, we assume this cannot be purchased/paid for, but since there's nothing in the Club Rules on this either way....
IF you were to "buy" points this way, I'd suggest that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

I would not base my purchase on the latter option, as it's not official (Hilton can stop doing this any time they want). However, the points borrowing/stretching is a valid feature and works quite well (IMO) once you figure it out.

Perhaps if you tell us what your typical plans are, we can maybe advise you on what size purchase to look at (ie: 4800, 5000, or more points)
